haha yeah i can understand why a bunch of kids who were barely out of kindergarten when the '90s ended might want to be compared to "cool" rap, pace the interviews, but whether by accident or design this stuff is hella '90s underground. (which is why i like some of it.) (telling these guys to buckle down and make a coherent album is major league point-missing re. their whole aesthetic so i doubt i'll ever LOVE them but hey.)

you could make an argument for gucci being a complex multisyllabic rapper but personally i wouldn't buy it
i think using monch as a reference point communicates the fact that they actually sound cool and menacing & is less back-handed. but it's true they both make weirdo battle rap
