new slough feg is really great. we should be voting for albums like this in the Big ILM EOY Poll, try introduce it to the wider ilx folk. If the autogooners can organise bloc votes then so should we tbh.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:12 (fifteen years ago)
you're assuming that everyone who posts here is a fan of slough feg. count me out.
― dressed up better than anyone within a mile (Bill Magill), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:22 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, I'm definitely in the thumbs-down camp where SF are concerned.
― Born In A Test Tube, Raised In A Cage (unperson), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:24 (fifteen years ago)
I'm not especially opinionated about Slough Feg either way, but voting blocs are silly.
― ilxor is awesome what the fuck are you guys on about (ilxor), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:28 (fifteen years ago)
I like Slough Feg, but on first listen I'm not sure this one is any great shakes. The sound of the record is right on but the songs didn't grab me like on some of their other records.
― EZ Snappin, Monday, 18 October 2010 18:34 (fifteen years ago)
bloc party 4 slough feg
― markers, Monday, 18 October 2010 18:36 (fifteen years ago)
A big part of being metal is not caring what other people think. What does some poll matter? We know it's awesome.

still, you know what they say, never trust someone who likes Rush.

Sure, if someone could make me a moderator I'll get right on that!

Would you ban Rush too?

Thanks JJ!
Yeah, if you can't trust someone who likes Rush, then you're not going to be able to take the word of many people at all on this thread.

herman in only liking "experimental" metal non-shocker
― guess I'll just sing dream on again (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 18 October 2010 20:12 (fifteen years ago)
you're confusing me with lj.
Slough Feg aren't exactly noted for being experimental.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 20:13 (fifteen years ago)
Whats next, dissing Sabbath?

Next thing you know someone's going to bad mouth Led Zeppelin!
Oh wait, Bill's been there and done that.
Add me to the "Rush rocks!" camp; watched the documentary this weekend and my love only deepened.
― EZ Snappin, Monday, 18 October 2010 20:23 (fifteen years ago)
Bill hates Led Zep?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 20:26 (fifteen years ago)
How anyone could prefer Rush over Led Zep is beyond me!
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 20:27 (fifteen years ago)
I do, probably.

― EZ Snappin, Monday, 18 October 2010 20:45 (fifteen years ago)
Rush is a lot more experimental than Led Zeppelin. I like them better too, though I like both. And Rush loves Zep.
ANYWAY - I have yet to catch Spellcaster. Pretty sure they are super young kids.
Also - damn it was so cool to finally see Krallice. Total gems on and off stage.

The Haulix promo MP3s of the new Atheist album are so low-quality (and glitchy) I pre-ordered the CD from Relapse's website because at this point I really don't feel like I have any idea what the final record will actually sound like.
― Born In A Test Tube, Raised In A Cage (unperson), Monday, 18 October 2010 23:27 (fifteen years ago)
one week from tomorrow, the new Kylesa comes out!
― markers, Monday, 18 October 2010 23:28 (fifteen years ago)
I hope Kylesa is good when they play on Thursday.
― EZ Snappin, Monday, 18 October 2010 23:37 (fifteen years ago)
I've been ranting and raving about glitchy haulix mp3s all year. It's a terrible system for writers to use.

I usually won't listen to beeped promos but the Order of Ennead album is so good I can't help myself
gonna buy the damn thing
proper death metal I tell you what
― guess I'll just sing dream on again (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Tuesday, 19 October 2010 03:24 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, I like Order of Ennead.
Just emailed some interview questions to one-woman black metaller Anguished (debut CD out now or soonish on Hammer of Hate). Vocally, she reminds me of Lydia Lunch circa Teenage Jesus - super shrieky and hard to take. But she plays everything except the drums on the disc, so I figure I might as well make MSN readers aware of her work.

Has anyone else heard (or mentioned) recent Rise Above signees Ghost? They're from Sweden, and they continue the trend of terrific new traditional metal bands that's been happening as of late. Their MySpace stuff is superb (catchy, seductive, uber-Satanic), and I cannot wait to hear the entire album (which came out today it so happens). RIYL The Devil's Blood, Goblin, Mercyful Fate...

Is it my imagination or is old skool heavy metal coming back into vogue?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:15 (fifteen years ago)
fucking shit, nate's post just reminded me that i missed krallice in town this week.
― bear, bear, bear, Tuesday, 19 October 2010 10:30 (fifteen years ago)
I really like the Ghost stuff I've heard altho RA should have got them to change their name, insofar as the notion of the Japanese Ghost doing a record on that label isn't that much of a stretch
― rmde cat and the dweebs (DJ Mencap), Tuesday, 19 October 2010 11:27 (fifteen years ago)
I assumed it was a re-release of an old band since I though noone would use the name now.

It ain't metal, but anybody who likes extreme music ought to care that there is a new original-lineup Killing Joke album.
― glenn mcdonald, Thursday, 21 October 2010 00:06 (fifteen years ago)
It's great at times, but I find myself actually preferring Hosannas overall.
