Lemme think, what have I got recently, hmmm, I've been buying 'new' stuff lately...
Evanescence - Fallen (this is popcorn, I listen to it when I play football games on Nintendo)The New Pornographers - Electric Version (not overly impressed, I'm afraid, they sound like a tinny Thinking Fellers/They Might Be Giants, perhaps I will play them in my other CD player which is analogue, I think that'll do the trick, coz a Thinking Fellers/TMBG is a good thing, but tinny is not)Alkaline Trio - Good MourningThe Postal Service - Give Up

Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to ChildrenBeck - Midnite VulturesThe Beatles - Revolver
and burnt 9 CDs worth of concerts from the Music Gallery archives (Derek Bailey/Evan Parker, Eugene Chadbourne/Larry Dubin, David Mott, Elliot Sharp, Jim Tenney, Henry Kaiser).
After acquiring all this great music the first thing I put on when I came home was "Renegade" by Styx. I just want you all to know that.
But now I'm listening to Pharoah Sanders.

This Saudi stuff is much more groove-oriented than most of the Egyptian music I listen to; and I hear more similarities to some sorts of African and Indian music. I think it would actually be fairly accessible to western listeners.
