I'll check Le Kraken out, thanks. I assumed they were from France but they're actually from Montreal. Hopefully they unleash le fury.

A. Begrand, Saturday, 16 October 2010 01:10 (fifteen years ago)

I believe they have a few albums out. Yeah, they're from Montreal.
It was an enjoyable listen.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 16 October 2010 01:22 (fifteen years ago)

Finally got round to hearing new Kylesa (thanks in part to Neil K) and it's reassuringly satisfying.

I don't smoke grass but if I did I would smoke a lot of it over the next few weeks while listening to Black Masses by Electric Wizard and the new Kylesa on constant repeat.

Duran (Doran), Saturday, 16 October 2010 01:36 (fifteen years ago)

thanks for the suggestion!

I'm a DUDE, Dad! (Viceroy), Saturday, 16 October 2010 01:51 (fifteen years ago)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Saturday, 16 October 2010 01:57 (fifteen years ago)

maybe this is duh territory but new kylesa is on grooveshark, couldn't find el wiz though :(

The Great Jumanji, (La Lechera), Saturday, 16 October 2010 03:41 (fifteen years ago)

i mean, if you want to hear it (not "have" it)

The Great Jumanji, (La Lechera), Saturday, 16 October 2010 03:42 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, Kylesa leaked a while ago I believe...

A. Begrand, Saturday, 16 October 2010 03:43 (fifteen years ago)

Didn't even think of checking Grooveshark! I will certainly be buying both of these immediately upon release.

This Le Kraken album really is terrific stuff. Wonder how good their other albums are.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 17 October 2010 01:48 (fifteen years ago)

hey anybody know anything about Evils Survives (super retro NWOBHM band from UK) or Spellcaster (Portland something or other)? they're playing a show here next sunday for $6 and judging from the myspace samples it will be either much better than expected or uh not good at all.

also plz to share my pain that the triptykon/1349/yakuza show is tomorrow but i will already be at nomeansno. peeps need to start scheduling around my desires.

Cap'n Save-a-tanist (jjjusten), Sunday, 17 October 2010 02:01 (fifteen years ago)

glenn mcdonald, Sunday, 17 October 2010 02:04 (fifteen years ago)

tbh i think that either way i will be picking the wrong show. this sucks.

Cap'n Save-a-tanist (jjjusten), Sunday, 17 October 2010 02:14 (fifteen years ago)

i need our new friend aerosmith bootlegs on this thread to back me up on this one i think

Cap'n Save-a-tanist (jjjusten), Sunday, 17 October 2010 02:16 (fifteen years ago)

I interviewed Evil Survives for decibel, nice enough guys. Fun album, too. Probably worth the six bucks. I'm sure Nate knows about spellcaster.

sounds like Dream Theater (J3ff T.), Sunday, 17 October 2010 05:18 (fifteen years ago)

When talking about certain albums, can we please post this beside it in future?

I'm gutted that festival is the same weekend as Supersonic.

Mind you, as I'm now in plaster Supersonic is going to be a giant clusterfuck.

Dame Anna NAGL (aldo), Sunday, 17 October 2010 19:10 (fifteen years ago)

What did you do?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 17 October 2010 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

Broke my ankle* on Friday when I slipped off the edge of a path. It only hurt enough for me to go to hospital today.

* Not 100% confirmed broken yet, but plaster on until Tuesday and I have crutches.

Dame Anna NAGL (aldo), Sunday, 17 October 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

Supersonic looks great- would love to see Zeni Geva, Eagle Twin, all the headliners, and there are a bunch of acts I haven't heard but am intrigued by.

Hope your dodgy ankle doesn't spoil your fun.

Neil S, Sunday, 17 October 2010 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

What age are you Aldo? I thought you would be too old to be skateboarding on pavements.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Sunday, 17 October 2010 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

THAT'S A VERY PERSONAL QUESTION

Dame Anna NAGL (aldo), Sunday, 17 October 2010 19:40 (fifteen years ago)

Kraken: Kvelertak without the self-confidence.

glenn mcdonald, Monday, 18 October 2010 01:36 (fifteen years ago)

i dont see the connection, I guess i better give the Kvelertak another listen, but i dont think they sound alike

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 01:55 (fifteen years ago)

Le Kraken is def more atmospheric.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 01:59 (fifteen years ago)

nah i dont hear similarities at all.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 02:11 (fifteen years ago)

Really? If you play the two track 1s back to back they don't sound vaguely related to you? Ah well. At least I didn't compare them to UnSun.

glenn mcdonald, Monday, 18 October 2010 02:40 (fifteen years ago)

Liking the new Slough Feg so far!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 02:45 (fifteen years ago)

today has been a Striborg marathon

just love this dude's sound so much

the tune is space, Monday, 18 October 2010 02:48 (fifteen years ago)

new slough feg is really great. we should be voting for albums like this in the Big ILM EOY Poll, try introduce it to the wider ilx folk. If the autogooners can organise bloc votes then so should we tbh.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

you're assuming that everyone who posts here is a fan of slough feg. count me out.

dressed up better than anyone within a mile (Bill Magill), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:22 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, I'm definitely in the thumbs-down camp where SF are concerned.

Born In A Test Tube, Raised In A Cage (unperson), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:24 (fifteen years ago)

I'm not especially opinionated about Slough Feg either way, but voting blocs are silly.

ilxor is awesome what the fuck are you guys on about (ilxor), Monday, 18 October 2010 18:28 (fifteen years ago)

I like Slough Feg, but on first listen I'm not sure this one is any great shakes. The sound of the record is right on but the songs didn't grab me like on some of their other records.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 18 October 2010 18:34 (fifteen years ago)

bloc party 4 slough feg

markers, Monday, 18 October 2010 18:36 (fifteen years ago)

A big part of being metal is not caring what other people think. What does some poll matter? We know it's awesome.

still, you know what they say, never trust someone who likes Rush.

Bump so I can bookmark and never see that sad slapfest that ruins the width of the thread.

bill will just do it again then!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 18 October 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

Can a moderator please delete that really long string of >>>?

Sure, if someone could make me a moderator I'll get right on that!

Would you ban Rush too?

fixed, resisted urge to edit further

underrated aerosmith logins the rest of u assholes are considering (jjjusten), Monday, 18 October 2010 20:07 (fifteen years ago)

hating on slough feg in a metal thread is ok even I like them
dissing rush in a metal thread should be grounds for a temp ban

guess I'll just sing dream on again (underrated aerosmith bootlegs I have owned), Monday, 18 October 2010 20:07 (fifteen years ago)
