how could anyone resist with such an enticing title

thereminimum chips (electricsound), Friday, 21 November 2008 04:40 (seventeen years ago)

haha

there was a 'double fisted demo' 12" last year, on rong proper rather than the joint label. never bothered ordering it tho, it only had the one track!

fela cooties (haitch), Friday, 21 November 2008 05:10 (seventeen years ago)

this, like the yacht and panthers, are enjoyable but totally preaching to the choir

free blood more interesting but somehow i like it a bit less

thereminimum chips (electricsound), Friday, 21 November 2008 05:14 (seventeen years ago)

juan maclean, and the mock and toof mixes of holy ghost were best of the recent lot i think. the original mix of that juan track sounds like a toughened-up human league or something.

panthers was good, i have the permanent vacation pressing of it (it's the same mixes). still not heard yacht tho.

fela cooties (haitch), Friday, 21 November 2008 05:30 (seventeen years ago)

wonder when they'll get the black meteoric star stuff out there, i got high hopes for that.

fela cooties (haitch), Friday, 21 November 2008 05:35 (seventeen years ago)

woah ye, acid-house from gavin sans delia. sounds fun.

also wanted to say that i finally got around to the brennan green version of "brooklyn club jam" and it was more than worth the effort

psychgawsple, Friday, 21 November 2008 06:51 (seventeen years ago)

gavin russom has done a remix for ronan's fave tracksuit-sex-trancer, petar dundov, on this. sounds pretty frantic!

two months pass...

Really, really liking the new Woolfy single on Rong/DFA, "Oh Missy."

The Cage & Aviary thing is awesome. Very Talking Heads-y. Has anyone heard the Capracara thing?

Shannon Whirry & the Bad Brains, Sunday, 15 February 2009 16:43 (seventeen years ago)

(incidentally, all the DFA stuff is on eMusic now, which is great)

Shannon Whirry & the Bad Brains, Sunday, 15 February 2009 16:43 (seventeen years ago)

really like the cage & aviary- it sounded instantly familiar because of it's inclusion on the aeroplane mix for cool in the pool.

really do not like "oh missy" though, tbh

all-seeing eye of horus (psychgawsple), Monday, 16 February 2009 02:59 (seventeen years ago)

xpost - Not all DFA stuff, just a handful of things, but some pretty good ones.

No. Only the DFA stuff that isn't somehow tied to major labels. Hercules & Love Affair's debut disc, for instance, isn't on eMusic.

(posts crossed in transit. hurting's right.)

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 16 February 2009 03:08 (seventeen years ago)

The only LCD Soundsystem, for example, is the Nike+ thing. Which I did download - a pretty good deal for about the amount it takes to feed a starving African child for a day.

cage & aviary put 'television train' out on that label dissident... would love someone to do a S/D on those dudes, they put out 40+ singles in about 12 months.

resident advice whore (haitch), Monday, 16 February 2009 03:51 (seventeen years ago)

Capracara has a new single out on DFA, "King of the Witches" with a Rub N Tug remix. He's previously had a single on Soul Jazz "Flashback 86 / Opal Rush" which were very 80s sounding acid house tracks.

I am using your worlds, Tuesday, 17 February 2009 19:30 (seventeen years ago)

i just heard the demo of mock & toof's underwater for the first time and it sounds hella like tunng (or indeed shack)

w/ sax (electricsound), Friday, 27 February 2009 03:49 (seventeen years ago)

one month passes...

i dig this new capracara track. and the rub n tug remix is even better- that vocal sample is sorta seals the deal

lots of goodies on that page!

wonder what else DFA have up their sleeves for the year. more juan maclean remix stuff maybe? white labels of the 'one day' remixes are out there in the ether. (i think they picked the romboy, emperor machine and surkin mixes for the 12".) there is that new gavin russom project too.

oh, pregnantpaws (haitch), Wednesday, 22 April 2009 04:49 (seventeen years ago)

new gavin russom sounds awesome. also invisible conga people!!!

WHOA! Is this floating around somewhere? Or has it just been mentioned in an interview or something!?

Shannon Whirry & the Bad Brains, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 09:27 (seventeen years ago)

People should check out Gavin Russom's Britney remix on his myspace. It's ace.

Number None, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 14:44 (seventeen years ago)

I'm really eager to hear the new Still Going and I can't wait to pick up that Juan Maclean record on vinyl. Nice to see the rest of the year looks like it is pretty much in the bag already.

visitation, Wednesday, 22 April 2009 15:08 (seventeen years ago)

also a distinct lack of invisible conga people :( i swear i read that somewhere.

but yes the news of another still going is pretty exciting. tho it has a LOT to live up to after the last 12", house of house, c.o.m.b.i., etc

fuck an Ian Svenonious vocal, Holy Ghost dropped their new tune at the Juan MacLean show and --I shit you not-- Michael McDonald sings the hook!

i played the DJ Kaos single (the Tiedeye remix) last week and three separate girls came up to ask about it. the Walter Jones is hot as well.
