I have yet to hear Gnaw Their Tongues and Kylesa, but wouldn't be surprised if either made my list.

Yeah Triptykon would probably be on my list and I'm super excited to hear the Kylesa. Off the top of my head the Ihsahn record would probably make my list.

I can't remember everything that came out, but off the top of my head I would put: Iron Maiden, Yakuza, Enslaved, Drudkh, Ov Hell, Sorgeldom, Twilight, 1349, Ludicra, and The Howling Wind on my list, and maybe Celestiial, and I have a feeling this Wolvserpent is gonna make it too. Oh yeah, and I bet Kylesa will, but I haven't heard it.

I have a gift certificate, so I'm going to make a run to Best Buy and pick up a couple things I never got around to checking out (if they have them), including Ludicra because I suspect I'm going to love that one. Honestly, the Enslaved is good, but I'm not as blown away by it as everyone else here seems to be.

Man your Best Buy must be a whole lot better than the ones around here if you can find Ludicra there. The only metal albums I was able to find this year were the Maiden, the High On Fire, and Ov Hell.

I'm not sure about the Triptykon disc yet (or the EP that's coming out soonish). I'm going to see them, 1349 and Yakuza tomorrow night, though. That may inspire me to revisit the studio recordings.

They have it on the website, probably doesn't translate to having it in store though.

I was not impressed by the Rob zombie at all. I really wanted to like it, but it just wasn't very good.

I keep forgetting theres a new Brain Drill out! I need to check that one out, I loved first one.

I totally forgot the Ludicra! Another to add to the list. Liked the Ratt a great deal and should probably revisit it.

I think for me the top ten of it is going to be Maiden, Electric Wizard, Cathedral, The Body, Gnaw Their Tongues, High On Fire, Cephalic Carnage, Kylesa, UFOmammut, Celeste.

tons of stuff I haven't checked out yet too. ludicra, defeatist, kill the client, and triptykon are near the top of that list.

I'm a fair-weather metal fan and haven't heard a lot, but I have enjoyed Nachtmystium, High on Fire, Deftones, maybe a couple others... Boris? Maybe the BXI thing, or that Variations one.

Fuck... I was trying not to go on about it... but it fucking rules. The last track's like a massive thunderstorm. And that's all I'm saying about it until ten days before release date...

You just upped my excitement level by like 10000000%.

Forgot about the Thou, that one is pretty high up on my list. I haven't given my list much thought though, since I'm not writing for any outlets right now I'm not on the same October deadline as most of you guys.

i'm expecting to enjoy a good amount of stuff that hasn't been released yet, but my only real keepers from the year so far are cathedral and ludicra, and to an extent i respect those more than i like them.

Electric Wizard and Agalloch are high on my "excited for" list and will probably make it if they're anywhere near the last records from each band. Ended up being quite a year!

Nope. I wasn't expecting anything at all from it, 'cause they were seriously one of the most inept bands I'd ever heard. But somehow they got whipped into shape and while they're not pathbreaking or anything, it's a solid death/grind record.

Seeing Triptykon here in Cambridge Thursday night. Looking forward!

Enslaved and Agalloch will place very high on my 2010 list. Christian Mistress has crept up and up since June to the point where it's an easy top ten for me. The new ones by Weapon and the Crown are fantastic as well, a couple of potential late additions.

There's been a wealth of good metal records this year...

I totally did this a month or so ago w/ the Sleep show in Austin, had a ticket and everything...

so far it's christian mistress and ludicra at the top for me, with kylesa, the torche ep, enslaved, and the body not far behind and agalloch and slough feg expected to be right in the mix. still haven't full absorbed the new cathedral.

going through itunes just to remind myself about 2010, the secret might get in there, along with black breath, bison b.c., and high on fire. i really dig "circle the wagons," too.

next question show wise for me is how willing am i to pay dimmu borgir for my opportunity to see enslaved

my usual comp attempts have come up empty because its at a bar that (up until now) mostly does biker blooz and hippy jam band crap urrrggghhhh

like as in if you were ever wondering if Dread Zeppelin was still touring you could check this place because they seem to be playing there every other week

Memoria Vetusta II was mine, too. I previewed the new one and, I don't know if it is a re-release of old material or if they are completely out of ideas or what, but I found it really really boring compared to... well all of their earlier work. I listened to it four times and nothing stuck.

If you go to Supersonic, I'm doing a daily radio show around tea time, interviewing Michael Rother in the theatre and DJing the aftershow party on the Sunday.

None of these things will necessarily be any good. Well, whenever I've done the aftershow it's usually gone down a storm actually. It's like when you get a bunch of people who've been drinking, taking drugs and listening to stuff that sounds like Merzbow or Scorn for three days, the second they hear Run To The Hills they go apeshit.

Really if you go to Supersonic just make sure you watch Factory Floor. Love that band. Literally just got in from watching them in SW London this evening. Can't hear anything.

Was intending catching up with you at some point - have managed to book the Paragon this week which means I guess we should run into each other.

I'm hoping to see Patrick Wolf there again dressed as Robin Hood and dancing very quickly to Venetian Snares.

Jeff, let me know if you need a promo. I'll hook you up man. Ludicra's The Tenant should be on everyone's top 10 list because it's one of the ten best records to come out this year.

Still fleshing mine out but undoubtedly includes Enslaved, Cathedral, Ludicra, Agalloch, Christian Mistress, and Wolvserpent.

I definitely should give the new Krieg a listen before making any list. Man, I'm now reminded of Winterfylleth, Woe, and The Howling Wind. Too much good stuff this year...
