pretty sure a large chunk of the Super Bowl audience has not kept in touch with the Top 40 for at least twenty years

it's so easy not to know big hits, just listen to only your ipod or sports talk radio in the car and only your own music everywhere else on your phone and don't really go to places that play top 40 over the muzak

OTM, it is pretty easy to not hear a lot of music, I don't even do it on purpose
