New Torche is good and I'm currently enjoying new Envy!

btw since there's chat on ILE about an I Love Football board, anyone for or against an I Love Metal? (not im not for or against it, just wondering what everyone thinks)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:33 (fifteen years ago)

against--no reason to break up ilm

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:34 (fifteen years ago)

Sounds like it would get more use than a board made for NOIZE dudes.

Randolph Carter (Viceroy), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:35 (fifteen years ago)

i see what cad is saying, at the same time rolling metal thread is unwieldy and murder to find things on. you cant just revive it like you can with individual threads, but most metal bands you cant start a thread on as you might get 1 or 2 replies.
otoh i think some are put off posting to rolling metal thread as theyre not a regular

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:37 (fifteen years ago)

I know I find it very hard to just jump into the rolling metal discussion. And one thread for all of metal just isn't enough, IMO.

Randolph Carter (Viceroy), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:38 (fifteen years ago)

then make 2 rolling metals per year. this is an extremely friendly thread btw so no one should be put off from posting.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:39 (fifteen years ago)

i think people should be encouraged to make threads for individual bands if they want. i would hate to see ilm balkanize.

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:40 (fifteen years ago)

plus a lot of chat about albums on this thread is journos who have promos who hear stuff months before the rest of us do, that's not so great, individual threads on a board allow you to revive.
bur, the thing i like best about the rolling threads are the community feel of it. all mates together, but i can see how that's offputting to some. but I dont think we're clique-y at all, are we?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:41 (fifteen years ago)

i think cad might agree with me on the latter!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:41 (fifteen years ago)

i dunno every time someone has come in here asking abt something or looking for help i feel like they get multiple useful responses

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:42 (fifteen years ago)

i do agree that it's tough when discussion about an album happens months apart, but for bigger albums someone should just make threads for them or use a thread for that band

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:43 (fifteen years ago)

problem is, even scott complained about all the metal threads on ilm.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:44 (fifteen years ago)

scott is ornery tho

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:45 (fifteen years ago)

better not let him MOD it then :)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:47 (fifteen years ago)

you could still have this thread, and leave the sub-board for threads on individual bands & albums.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:48 (fifteen years ago)

unrelated but you guys should totally get a football board. not because football threads "clog up ile" or whatever, i just think you all would have a lot of fun with it

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:49 (fifteen years ago)

i know, but it's the football fans who are against it!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:50 (fifteen years ago)

yeah they don't know what they're missing

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:50 (fifteen years ago)

ilh and ilnfl are the two best boards on the site

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:51 (fifteen years ago)

for the same reason you wouldn't like a metal board. but threads on niche stuff not clogging up the main board makes sense. It works for other sub-boards.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:51 (fifteen years ago)

i kind of understand that for ile, but why exactly does ilm need to stay "unclogged?"

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 01:53 (fifteen years ago)

dunno, im not one of the ones who complain about new answers being clogged up. but then again I dont use site new answers.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 02:05 (fifteen years ago)

i use sna. i don't even hide threads!

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 02:09 (fifteen years ago)

i mean boards

call all destroyer, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 02:09 (fifteen years ago)

Just got to hear the Christian Mistress record - holy hell is that great! Rhythm section had me bobbing along, and Christine Davis' delivery is emotional and real, perfect pitch be damned. Great, great listen. Thanks to all on here that have repeatedly brought it up.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 02:39 (fifteen years ago)

I would visit an I Love Metal board. It would keep me from getting caught up in annoying discussions about contemporary hip-hop and other things I shouldn't really be wasting my time thinking about.

Born In A Test Tube, Raised In A Cage (unperson), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 02:50 (fifteen years ago)

This thread (and the people on it) = 90% of the reason I check this site.

Nate Carson, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 02:56 (fifteen years ago)

The other 10% is the Rush threads, right?

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 02:59 (fifteen years ago)

i didn't expect phil to be in favour of a separate board tbh

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:02 (fifteen years ago)

even if we all agreed to get our own board, I wouldn't know how to go about getting it, plus who would mod it?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:04 (fifteen years ago)

against--no reason to break up ilm

― call all destroyer, Monday, September 20, 2010 9:34 PM (1 hour ago)

cad otm

markers, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:04 (fifteen years ago)

I wouldn't mind a separate board - I have less and less interest in the general discussions as the years go by - but I don't see it as a necessity.

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:05 (fifteen years ago)

rolling threads/big bands/existing threads would still exist on ILM. Board would be for smaller bands/albums or even rolling BM, Rolling Doom, Rolling grind, Rolling Shite Metallica Album, etc etc

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:07 (fifteen years ago)

Rolling Shite Metallica Album

can this be its own board too?

markers, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:08 (fifteen years ago)

Shite Metallica Albums: The Board

markers, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:09 (fifteen years ago)

you just want an I Love Markers board, admit it

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:10 (fifteen years ago)

Isn't that covered on ILTMI?

EZ Snappin, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:11 (fifteen years ago)

Was just listening to that Father Befouled today, really really digging it.

he's always been a bit of an anti-climb Max (jon /via/ chi 2.0), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:12 (fifteen years ago)

So who is for or against a separate metal board then while still having a rolling metal thread on ilm?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:13 (fifteen years ago)

in all seriousness though, there's no I Love Rap board or no I Love Dance Music board -- I just think we'd be setting a precedent that's not worth setting. ILM is ILX's music board, and that's how it will probably remain

markers, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:13 (fifteen years ago)

who cares about other boards though? hehe.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:15 (fifteen years ago)

we're pretty much independent from the rest of ILM anyway, no?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:16 (fifteen years ago)

let me put it this way: are there posters holding back on posting things to this thread for fear of flooding it? like, if there were a Rolling Grindcore thread on a separate metal board, would there be enough people posting to that thread? and would there be enough people posting to all the other separate metal threads that would inevitably arise too? it's not like the number of posters on ILM invested in metal is huge afaict

markers, Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:18 (fifteen years ago)

I hold back posting on this thread for fear of posting "old news" or whatever...

Randolph Carter (Viceroy), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:23 (fifteen years ago)

As in, I may find out about an album months after its been released and love it and want to talk about but the threads moved on...

Randolph Carter (Viceroy), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:24 (fifteen years ago)

discussion gets lost on a lot of bands in this thread. If you don't discuss it when someone has the promo its very easily lost.

And yes, people just wont start threads for smaller albums, genres, labels for fear of flooding.

Even a trial for 3 months to see how it went would be good.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:25 (fifteen years ago)

and yes, if you wanna discuss old bands/albums this thread isnt really for it.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:25 (fifteen years ago)

you could all design a metal css stylesheet for it!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:29 (fifteen years ago)

imagine the arguing over which I Love Metal Logo to use, lol.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 21 September 2010 03:30 (fifteen years ago)

Why not just have a Rolling Metal Pre- [whatever the year is] Thread? Talk about what you like with like minded folks who probably have something to share. Or just bring it up here anyways - I asked for some tips as to where to start with Hammers of Misfortune and I got a bunch of opinions and help.

I haven't heard any slams on people bringing up stuff later in the year either; I expect another discussion about Enslaved when that drops even though a number of critics have already said their bit, and I hope someone else listens to the Christian Mistress I mentioned earlier if they haven't and brings it up again.
