all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Wednesday, 8 September 2010 23:06 (fifteen years ago)

baaaah how i miss living here. i prefer the ability to wear sweaters over raggedy t-shirts when you've got nothing else to wear, tho. you only get that kind of weather in denver.

lieutenant jimmy john (kelpolaris), Thursday, 9 September 2010 02:21 (fifteen years ago)

Was in town for On Land and pretty busy so sorry I didn't get in touch with folks. Great times had, though -- anyone else at the shows?

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 9 September 2010 02:54 (fifteen years ago)

i wish i didn't have to think of it in financial terms but - there were about 8 or 9 acts i wanted to see, and they were spread between the four shows, and half of them were folks i could see at house shows for free/a few bucks, plus there's the crappy parking situation, and the expensive alcohol situation, and the high ticket charge, so, no, i didn't go.

Looks cool, will be there.

Sorcerer playing Madrone on Saturday (not headlining). I would go but I already have tickets to Laurie Anderson. Sort of a good news bad news thing.

bike chain dust? (lukas), Monday, 18 October 2010 17:40 (fifteen years ago)

turns out I can see Sorcerer after all. psyched. he is headlining after all.

recent stuff sounds fun to dance to:

bike chain dust? (lukas), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:24 (fifteen years ago)

is Madrone still a douche factory - y/n?

i remember when it was Mr. Falafel before all y'all moved here.

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:26 (fifteen years ago)

seriously Shasta, for shame

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:28 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i-ya'll just moved here so I know nothing about Madrone

bike chain dust? (lukas), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:29 (fifteen years ago)

just sayin... i miss Mr. Falafel and now there's just a shell of what used to be there that's filled with douchery 94/7 (except the sorcerer nite apparently).

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:29 (fifteen years ago)

wasn't it supposed to be more "arty" - and then it just ended up being a douchey overpriced dance club, like so many others?

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:30 (fifteen years ago)

xp - i miss the Central Freeway .... just sayin ...

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:31 (fifteen years ago)

$5 ya'll

but yes they are an "art bar"

bike chain dust? (lukas), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

what is an "art bar" anyway? Is it just code for "we want to be 111 Minna"?

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:33 (fifteen years ago)

"we want to serve $10 cocktails"?

bike chain dust? (lukas), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:39 (fifteen years ago)

"art bar" = "B&T welcome"

i love you but i have chosen snarkness (Steve Shasta), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:41 (fifteen years ago)

i miss Mr. Falafel and now there's just a shell of what used to be there that's filled with douchery 94/7

this is how I feel about Crescent City being replaced by Best of Thai Noodle Bowl

the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:44 (fifteen years ago)

i miss La Rondalla - i know it had a vermin problem, but that shit was delicious after a night of drinking.

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 18:59 (fifteen years ago)

also missed: Leather Tongue Video

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:00 (fifteen years ago)

lukas, sorcerer's just gonna be djing (although he has amazing records)

jaxon, Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

awwwwwwwwww

bike chain dust? (lukas), Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:18 (fifteen years ago)

La Rondalla was an institution! mostly for the margaritas and year-round xmas lights

Leather Tongue was quickly eclipsed by Lost Weekend for me

the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:21 (fifteen years ago)

I only went to Madrone the one time five or so years ago (with some "ilx types".) Every time I drive by it still looks like a douche factory.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:21 (fifteen years ago)

What do they sell at the Leather Tongue space now? Overpriced jeans?

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

googley eyed walnuts

the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:24 (fifteen years ago)

Lost Weekend does not have the voluminous collection of bootlegs that Leather Tongue had.

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:51 (fifteen years ago)

Every time I drive by it still looks like a douche factory.

It's young and arty and that can lead to douchitude but at the right time of day w/the right bartender, I actually like the place.

A Reclaimer Hewn With (Michael White), Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:54 (fifteen years ago)

Lost Weekend does not have the voluminous collection of bootlegs that Leather Tongue had.

I remember wandering into LT one time and the TVs were showing a GG Allin doc/performance, featuring the usual shit-eating, stabbing, blood-smearing etc.

I can do without those kind of bootlegs I think... LW gets pretty much everything I could be interested in, they have plenty of out-of-print stuff, obscure music DVDs, etc.

the first Asian legislator in our Nevada State Assembly (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 21 October 2010 19:58 (fifteen years ago)

Every time you watched a bootleg from Leather Tongue another Hollywood stuntman went hungry.

Fig On A Plate Cart (Alex in SF), Thursday, 21 October 2010 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

xp - Lost Weekend employs/has employed quite a few of my friends - that was not meant as a diss on that place by any means.

sarahel, Thursday, 21 October 2010 20:13 (fifteen years ago)

Jeremy at Lost Weekend = total bro

What's going on in SF on NYE ? Everything looks mega lame so far.

oscar, Saturday, 18 December 2010 04:07 (fifteen years ago)

anyone? anything? we suddenly have friends visiting on NYE and are feeling obliged to have some sort of 'fun'.

Not the real Village People, Wednesday, 22 December 2010 07:01 (fifteen years ago)

How about a quiet evening watching the ball drop on TV? It's a classic, timeless approach to NYE.

Lazarus Niles-Burnham (res), Wednesday, 22 December 2010 07:46 (fifteen years ago)

I'm prob partying at a friend's house, but if I were to go out, I'd go see Kim Ann foxman (of hercules &LA), Tim Sweeney and Honey soundsystem at Public Works

Dominique, Tuesday, 8 February 2011 20:56 (fifteen years ago)

anyone going to lindstrom tonight ? kind of on the fence after watching some youtube videos of his live show.
frankly, i think i would prefer just to see him dj at a sweaty dance party than to see him play his tracks off a laptop.

thoughts ?

oscar, Saturday, 12 February 2011 22:40 (fifteen years ago)

Fuck that guy. Come get sweaty with some trannies at deco tonight for Hacienda (Factory, acid house, early rave). I'm djing and it's free :)
