I always thought he was a she until after spending some time on ILM.

morris pavilion (samjeff), Thursday, 29 April 2004 20:29 (twenty-two years ago)

apparently Dominica Leone is "A devilishly beautiful brunette with a slender frame, small, natural breasts and a hellish sexual appetite. Cum suck on this succubus, she's a demon worshippers dream."

Gear! (Gear!), Thursday, 29 April 2004 20:39 (twenty-two years ago)

Well, that's a disappointment. I'm new to this msg board, so I guess it's forgivable since I've mostly read pitchfork and hoped that at least one of them was a girl....

Oh well, nothing wrong with a little challenge to one's sexual identity...

ItWas Me, Thursday, 29 April 2004 20:53 (twenty-two years ago)

I guess it's forgivable since I've mostly read pitchfork and hoped that at least one of them was a girl....

I don't think that's going to happen.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 20:56 (twenty-two years ago)

chris andrews (fraew), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:06 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd hit it.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Dominque has to be a male. Since when are girls so passionate about experimental music and Krautrock? ;)

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:13 (twenty-two years ago)

you haven't met many girls. Or cool ones, anyway.

hstencil (hstencil), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:19 (twenty-two years ago)

oh man, i wish my girl dug krautrock.. well, she likes neu!, i guess thats a start..

chris andrews (fraew), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:21 (twenty-two years ago)

i'd post some kind of p*fork hot or not, but ott would prolly go psycho

chris andrews (fraew), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:22 (twenty-two years ago)

dleone = total hottness!

his reviews are dreamy

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:23 (twenty-two years ago)

'twas sarcasm, hstencil. Hence the wink.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:27 (twenty-two years ago)

are you trying to say Queequeg isnt cool, h? ;-)

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:28 (twenty-two years ago)

what about brent d? mark richardson? chris ott? joe tangari?

..i think i agree with tangar more than anyone else at pfork, and he's a pretty clear and informative writer.. i like ott and dleone's journalistic pieces though

chris andrews (fraew), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:29 (twenty-two years ago)

does the idea of a female pitchfork writer make you horny? like a girl who knows and loves music AND writes about it. but she's a girl. and maybe she's pretty. and female. and maybe she knows more than you do. and she's got boobies.

myke boomnoise (myke boomnoise), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:39 (twenty-two years ago)

you might as well put on a wig and masturbate in front of the mirror.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Like most of ilm doesn't do this already.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:43 (twenty-two years ago)

does the idea of a male ILM poster posting about getting off on the idea of female music writers make you irritated and depressed? maybe he's a dork. and maybe he knows less than you do. and maybe he needs an attitude adjustment. (preferably a swift kick to the groin.)

geeta (geeta), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:44 (twenty-two years ago)

no, it's just a classic case of seeking out an idealized version of oneself in form of what one is sexually attracted to -- which is lame.

jack cole (jackcole), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:45 (twenty-two years ago)

er that was my point geeta

myke boomnoise (myke boomnoise), Thursday, 29 April 2004 21:47 (twenty-two years ago)

this thread is getting less hot

Sorry. Shouldn't have been all caps. I just get so excited sometimes.

(Jon L), Thursday, 29 April 2004 22:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Dom's about an 8.9. That could change.

Chris Ott (Chris Ott), Thursday, 29 April 2004 22:30 (twenty-two years ago)

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 30 April 2004 00:30 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, my friend who hosts a krautrock show at my college radio station is always raving about that Walter Wegmuller album. I need to hear it sometime I guess.

Catherine Lewis, but not reviews, as far as I know. Word has it she's hot. Amanda and Sage too. Do threads about them.

dleone (dleone), Friday, 30 April 2004 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

I liked Catherine's question of the week, which lasted all of about a month.

So was I, but you don't see me posting about it to assert my gender.

Dominique Leone is the subject of a leader in the Guardian.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/jan/04/in-praise-of-musical-reinvention

Alan Partridge Project (ithappens), Tuesday, 4 January 2011 10:03 (fifteen years ago)

Dominique Leone getting in the paper is awesome and I'm all for it, but "what's new about his achievement is that he took Reich's piece and remixed it" seems a slightly weak angle, given that there have already been 2 pretty high-profile "Reich Remixed" compilations

anyhow, that doesn't matter - nice bit of publicity, hope it leads to some new ears listening to Dominique (Reich too, for that matter), look forward to hearing the remix

agrarian gamekeeper (a passing spacecadet), Tuesday, 4 January 2011 12:16 (fifteen years ago)

The rewriting of works by other composers is a venerable tradition, going back to at least the time of Josquin

ha ha good grief! that's got it backwards all right

In retrospect it feels like Dominque was the only writer on earth who treated "V∞redoms" like an actual thing

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 13 February 2018 18:41 (eight years ago)

oh god this thread again.

really? They were definitely going by that at shows for maybe 10 years or so after VCN. They never released anything as Voredoms afaik, but I always figured that was due more to publishing than anything.

Dominique, Tuesday, 13 February 2018 19:10 (eight years ago)

v00redoms was and is my ebay name

Karl Malone, Tuesday, 13 February 2018 19:14 (eight years ago)

well, according to RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY

"By the time of the new millennium, Boredoms were re-named V∞redoms (although they still used Boredoms in the West)."

Whiney G. Weingarten, Tuesday, 13 February 2018 19:23 (eight years ago)

yeah, iirc Eye made a big deal about the idea of the band being a dual turntable (which I always took as the meaning of the ∞ symbol). And to me, anything made w/the Eye + drummers formation = V∞redoms. Probably doesn't matter of course.

Dominique, Tuesday, 13 February 2018 19:25 (eight years ago)

Vooredoms was a real thing afaic, in some ways my favorite of all the phases of eyes project. I just wish it was better documented outside of bootlegs. The super roots with the choir doesn’t quite capture the fire
