I cannot remember the original thread this turned up on, or the original poster. But when it turned up on Jurassic Park, it was pretty lol.
"guys guys guys there is SO MUCH incredible rock from the 90's that far outstrips what came before. fair enough if you prefer earlier stuff, but for me the watershed came around the time of Talk Talk's fruition. after that, bands realised that any sound was within their grasp, any texture was possible, and they began to reach higher and higher within the parameters of 'rock'. that comment about 'bush' being a typical 90's rock group just saddens me. on the one hand we had shoegaze, on the other post-rock, on the other we had stuff like Blur and Spiritualized and The Boo Radleys and SFA, then we had old-time rockers gone all weird and modern, like Soundgarden (who kicked more ass than just about every previous heavy-metal band I've heard, no really), we had sonic youth's 'washing machine' which is clearly a lot better than 'daydream nation' (no, it is), we had Beck, we had The Boredoms (I mean SRSLY), we had Levitation, we had Earth, Neurosis, Godflesh, and other great experimental metal bands, then we had the Flaming Lips (their 90's albums are GREAT), we had MERCURY FUCKING REV (whose first two albums do 'noise-pop' better than ANYONE), we had the rise and rise of Foetus ('Flow' is IMO a lot better than the earlier 'Nail'), we had Lusk, we had ORBITAL who weren't really rock but FUCK WE HAD ORBITAL ORBITAL ORBITAL and a load of other SUPREME electronic artists (Plaid, Aphex Twin etc), then we had Radiohead (I don't care what you say, they are revered for a fucking good reason), we had Scott Walker's 'Tilt' to keep us on our toes, we had Six By Seven, The Beta Band...."― ghost rider, Friday, May 11, 2007 8:35 PM (3 years ago) Bookmark

I just played Chrono Trigger for over an hour.
In Japanese. Not that I could read alot of it(one character speaks in an insanely thick and formal SAMURAI dialet, the royal family speaks high keigo which I oddly understood... not sure what that means. Alot of Kanji, too), what I did read is alot funnier, and I wouldn't have to read it anyway.I could play it in russian, swedish, arabic... DOESN'T MATTER. I can play it with my feet without looking directly at the creen. I'VE DONE IT BEFORE.In fact I set the battle modes to harder ones just for more of a challenge.THE ATTACK NAMES ARE DIFFERENT AND IT DOESN'T MATTER.I haven't played it in years and I can just go "Oh, now I need to do that, so I'll press this sequence of buttons and kill"SPINAL FUNCTION.If I did a blood transfuction I'm sure the recieving human(in addition to getting high from all the meds) would BE ABLE TO PLAY CHRONO TRIGGER.
That's not very long, either. I used to do 4-5 hour stretches. I don't remember how long it took to beat lavos when I'm SUPPOSED to lose...
I've seen all 11 main endings and variations of most of them.I used to level up by playing the game through.Fight the same series of wimps in the forect for an hour or two? I DON'T THINK SO. I think I'll BEAT THE GAME 3 times. The same way EVERY TIME.Fastest way to winning. Then I'd work at accumulating more items and becoming so strong NOTHING could stop me. But only after completing EVERY POSSIBLE SIDE STORY.
This was accomplished in part by a trick my brother (ex-in-law) found. He spend 6 hours fighting the same battle over and over.Steal the same item from the same monsters.I was FLOORED when I heard that.He had a save on the system with MAXED OUT magic power on EVERY character. Then I went on to bit by bit max every character as much as possible.
Then I lent it to my then girlfriend, and somehow that save was erased.it's wuite possible the fact that I had a Game Gear save on it that was so fucked it screwed the system, but she may (VERY DOUBTFUL) have deleted it on purpose, but I think she was ashamed of ACCIDENTALLY deleting it and lied. But I don't remember if you CAN just delete a save in CT....
This game was my sole entertainment source save random TV things for 2-3 years.THAT'S INSANE.I had an old-school Geocities site(long gone, I loved it) dedicated to subtexts and retardo descriptions of characters.I sprayed my hair the color of my fav character, I bought a replica sword like the one he carried, GREW MY HAIR TO THE SAME LENGTH.Used his name on EVERY message board, wait, they were all CHAT ROOMS then.Remember CHAT ROOMS?There was a CT chatroom I had regular DAILY meetings in.I SOMEHOW developed a crush on the webmaster until I saw she was really palsied and horse-like.Still cool. Not attractive.
WOW.This is the most meaningless crap I've ever written, but it's a bit of an insight onto how far into things I get.
Any CT fans?Anyone else have a similar past with a different game?

Echo shortgun (italian guitar I had)with pickups taken off and replaced by Roland GK2.That went into a GI10 (I think) and then to a Philip Rees MIDI merge, which used to have a taped up pint glass of iced water on it at gigs to stop it overheating and scrambling the notes cos it was so shit.Robs cheap drum pads also went into it originally, before he bought a Ddrum kit, which was great. The output of all the drum and guitar data went into our 24 voice Roland S750 sampler, which is why D I Go Pop is full of ´voice stealing´, where new voices cut off old ones, as it was all played live.Ithankyou.

Oasis "Whats the Story Morning Glory" Yes, not a sexy album in the sense of "damn I want to fuck to this album" But, think about the implications of the album; you've got two incredibly independent and self-serving strong personalities singing and banging their hearts out on this album, while making music that is immensely powerful. What more could you ask for than two men doing what they want to do in an independent manner, and as a result, changing the face of music because of it. Have shagged to in MANY times.AEKDB

im imagining a sitcom where 3 men find themselves in weird situations and they have to work out how to get themselves out.
episode one: pinefox, the lex and tuomas are in a sticky situation when they find themselves in somebodys garden and there is a loud barking coming from behind them. a garden gate separates them from freedom, will they make it out in time?
― 600, Sunday, 15 April 2007 13:05 (3 years ago)
the lex falls to the ground as he valiantly tries to climb the hedge, tuomas sticks his head into the hedge, pinefox muses on the nature of the gate
― 600, Sunday, 15 April 2007 13:06 (3 years ago)
episode two: pinefox, the lex and tuomas find themselves in a boat in the middle of a pond near the village green. there is a hole in the bottom of the boat and there is a strange wooden shaped thing floating nearby.
the lex wants to grab the strange wooden thing and wave it in the air, in the hope of attracting attention. tuomas remarks that back in finland the boats dont have holes, why do they have holes in them here? the pinefox can't remember who the lex and tuomas are
― 600, Sunday, 15 April 2007 13:10 (3 years ago)
episode three. after a difficult day trying to get the key to work in the lock of their house, tuomas, the lex and pinefox settle down and relax in their lounge. tuomas is confused that there are strange obstacles between all the rooms and back in finland ease of movement between the rooms isn't so restricted. the pinefox is concerned by some strange lights and nasty noises coming from a black box in the corner of the room and has covered it with a blanket, and the lex has fallen into the sink
― 600, Sunday, 15 April 2007 13:17 (3 years ago)
tuomas, the lex and pinefox find themselves trapped by the side of the road. their favourite kebab house is on the other side. pinefox wants to call michael jones for advice but the lexs ipod doesn't seem to have any reception. tuomas wants to walk across the road but the lex is worried the big colorful things might hurt like the lamppost did earlier in the day. tuomas says it is ridiculuous to assume that the machines are violent and that in Finland many of those machines are used to host anti-patriarchy meetings on the campus.
tuomas walks calmly into the road and a blue machine hits him and he falls to the ground. the lex finds this hilarious and shouts "SEE! you do that too, i'm not the only one!" and, reassured, stumbles into the road, and is hit by a red machine and exclaims loudly "OW OW OW no fair you got the blue one tuomas the red one HURTS".
the pinefox looks at the two vaguely recognisable people lying in the road and wonders when the lex and tuomas are going to return with the *kebabs*, whatever the hell they are
