Actually, upon further reflection "Official Girl" is like the most Hot Chip-like of the Cassie singles (and here I employ Hot Chip in the derogative). But I still like it though.

God, I hope not. His current production style is almost as bad as his MC skills. Maybe worse (so much of Graduation only sounded good for two spins...e.g. "Champion," "The Glory").

i don't think it's danja on 'official girl'. sounds like the same dude from the tiffany evans - 'girl gone wild' intro and that one was produced by brian kidd.

dbs, Sunday, 20 April 2008 14:42 (eighteen years ago)

how is that Tiffany Evans album?

Alex in Baltimore, Sunday, 20 April 2008 15:54 (eighteen years ago)

most Hot Chip-like

???
I've only heard a few Hot Chip singles, so if those aren't representative of their sound, ignore this, but what exactly does that mean? Are you talking about the production or the vocals? The HC songs I've heard sounded kinda soulless, and I wouldn't call "Official Girl" remotely soulless (or at the very least, it's no more soulless than any other Cassie song).

Hot. This song has grown on me in a huge way, it's so sweet.

The best teen-pop/R&B album I've heard in a long time (not that I hear all that many on a yearly basis).

Andy K, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 20:52 (eighteen years ago)

the pc version of 'no homo'

deej, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 20:53 (eighteen years ago)

CORRECT, especially if you add "here, at my job" to that parenthetical.

Andy K, Tuesday, 20 May 2008 20:58 (eighteen years ago)

Tiff Evans' album is pretty good yeah, especially "girl gone wild"

How much longer?????????

Tape Store, Sunday, 8 June 2008 07:06 (eighteen years ago)

I just heard Cassie's version of Official Girl and it basically sucks. The first verse is overly clumsy and her voice sounds weaker than ever. Maybe it would have sounded better to my ears if i hadn't heard Karina's version... Her voice is a lot sweeter to swallow than Cassie's. Tyhe sond itself is bril though.

Christyles, Friday, 20 June 2008 14:36 (seventeen years ago)

Cassie's voice is extra weak and her upcoming 'Official Girl' is going to bomb, she has better tracks on the new album like 'Thirsty' and 'Turn The Lights Off' but this is SOOO a thinly veiled attempt to express her like, feelings on her suspect relations/ship with P Diddy/Puffy. She's really hot tho, I'm sure that will work out for her. She's not the new Ciara because she can't dance and doesn't have a constantly successful production team.

VeronaInTheClub, Friday, 20 June 2008 14:43 (seventeen years ago)

*Consistently

VeronaInTheClub, Friday, 20 June 2008 14:44 (seventeen years ago)

RONG
"Her voice is a lot sweeeter to swallow than Cassie's"?
"doesn't have a constantly successful production team"?

Tape Store, Friday, 20 June 2008 16:58 (seventeen years ago)

"Addiction" >>>> all the Cassie solo records floating around

some dude, Friday, 20 June 2008 17:54 (seventeen years ago)

i dig "addiction," but that's also rong

Tape Store, Friday, 20 June 2008 21:58 (seventeen years ago)

Cassie's album bombed on a real note, I just think when working with her the production team is inconsistent they don't look at the bigger picture, they focus on one song and hope it'll carry everything else.
Ciara's voice is just as weak.
They're both wrongses.

Was listenin to Thirsty, and maybe it's cos i'm runnin a bit of fever, but for a few precious moments i thought i was listenin to aaliyah.

some dude, Monday, 7 July 2008 15:06 (seventeen years ago)

^^That picture doesn't properly display the fitness (this is true, great looking woman etc), in that pic she looks like an off duty/desperate crack fiend.
Here's better...

Chick truly has looks on her side, Ciara may look better these days but she's no Cassie. Also am tired of the Aaliyah comparisons, Aaliyah WAS and still is far and beyond different and better to some of the girls coming in the game right now. Some may border on her style but not quite.

VeronaInTheClub, Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:13 (seventeen years ago)

she needs to eat something

The Brainwasher, Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:14 (seventeen years ago)

also ciara >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> cassie

The Brainwasher, Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:15 (seventeen years ago)

ciara looks mad anorexic lately tho, dunno why she lost weight she was looking amazing in the "Promise' video

The Brainwasher, Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:15 (seventeen years ago)

who's really compared cassie to alliyah?

J0rdan S., Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:16 (seventeen years ago)

^Ciara's been signed up for some modelling contract on the side. Apparently thats code for drop a hundred pounds so you look like the protein drip should be your friend.
At first the Aaliyah comparisons where just based around Ciara because 'they dance and sing' but then Cassie came in and people said she was trying to move in on Aaliyah's sound. Just random blogs and stuff there's a lot of hate from Aaliyah fans who think Cassie is dedicated to trying to rip off Aaliyah in terms of style and looks some are super paranoid and think she even moved to NYC to be like Aaliyah (a stretch to say the least)....

VeronaInTheClub, Saturday, 12 July 2008 02:21 (seventeen years ago)

WHY ISN'T ANYTHING LEAKING?

i love them both, but cassie > ciara

Tape Store, Wednesday, 23 July 2008 18:00 (seventeen years ago)

I'm too distracted by those pics to make a sensible comment.

daavid, Wednesday, 23 July 2008 19:45 (seventeen years ago)

Lil Wayne version is out.

Tape Store, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 03:09 (seventeen years ago)

(honestly, not necessary ;_;)

Tape Store, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 04:07 (seventeen years ago)

Bring on the damn leaks ALREADY!

baaderonixx, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 07:15 (seventeen years ago)

no more leaks - we have enough to comprise the whole thing already, and if they all make it it's album of the year easy - bring on the damn album already! i hunger for PRODUCT

lex pretend, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 11:48 (seventeen years ago)

It's better this morning.

Tape Store, Wednesday, 30 July 2008 13:11 (seventeen years ago)

hang on did we ever talk about '2 the morning'? that song is so amazing, those cut-up backing vox and lurching beats and disquieting 808 pulses. waitaminutewaitaminutewaitaminuteyeah - everything i do i be makin' them stare...

'official girl' and 'thirsty' both have such awesome middle 8 pay-offs:

and i ain't makin' ultimatums
i'mma tell you like it is verbatim

vs

ooh i got you dreamin', wishin' you was in the deep end
here we could be fully submerged
hmm - i think about it, i doubt it, should make you live without it
and keep you dying of thirst -
i'm just playin' with you!

lex pretend, Tuesday, 5 August 2008 09:51 (seventeen years ago)

oh god that ultimatum/verbatim bit is my favorite...also it took me forever to notice: back to back dudes away from my door

Tape Store, Thursday, 7 August 2008 03:44 (seventeen years ago)

parallellllll

Tape Store, Thursday, 7 August 2008 03:45 (seventeen years ago)

Album has been pushed back to early '09 I hear. Makes sense, Cassie can't really compete with all the big names releasing 4Q '08 like Beyonce, Cici, Keri, etc.

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 7 August 2008 04:30 (seventeen years ago)

What the fuck?! :( She could release all the leaks and still have the best album of the year!

Tape Store, Thursday, 7 August 2008 04:34 (seventeen years ago)

the leaks are good, but 08 has been an excellent year and it's getting even better in the 4Q so....

speaking of leaks a new song "my house" is doing the blog rounds

The Brainwasher, Thursday, 7 August 2008 04:36 (seventeen years ago)

it's really great. also this 'over it' demo sounds so promising. this really makes me sad.

Tape Store, Thursday, 7 August 2008 04:48 (seventeen years ago)

What the fuck?! :( She could release all the leaks and still have the best album of the year!

YES:

official girl
2 the morning
in love with the dj
sometimes
thirsty
my house
over it
is it you?
turn the lights off

lex pretend, Thursday, 7 August 2008 09:40 (seventeen years ago)

a lot of that stuff is actually pretty good

J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 09:46 (seventeen years ago)

at least a new pussycat dolls album is coming out

J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 09:47 (seventeen years ago)

a lot of these are a little same-y to me though

J0rdan S., Thursday, 7 August 2008 09:56 (seventeen years ago)

the girl on 'over it' doesn't sound like cassie at all, at least the version i heard.

It's better this morning.

no, you were the right the first time. however, i do approve of young dro on the new '2 the morning' mix.

there are also some good songs that didn't make it to the first album, 'in love with u' especially
