fat joe album is great, love the r. kelly track, "valley of death," and of course "no problems" and "ha ha"... even the trey songz song is damn good...

that track with ghostface 'kilos" sample that features Clipse is the only one I don't really like ... ghost flipped that sample much better

this is weird but when doing the above ranking i had a hard time remembering what "ringtone rap" even was, as a distinct thing from snap music. like everything i'd think of would be snap stuff like yung joc, dem franchize boys, etc. is ringtone even a distinct period or set of hits in retrospect?

there's some overlap, def, but i think of stuff like "crank dat", "party like a rockstar", "pop lock and drop it", "this is why i'm hot", etc

young rap/one-hit-wonders with hook-driven songs that sold a lot of ringtones 2006-2007

ok yeah Mims and Shop Boyz are probably ringtone posterboys. but yeah with a lot of those songs there's some overlap with snap or some other micro-genre/scene. soulja boy's kinda the beginning of something else (youtube rap?).
