and FTB don't sound like the elevators!

Idk I'm not accusing them of ripping them off or anything, I just hear a lot of Satori in Easter Everywhere and vice versa.
― zorn_bond.mp3, Sunday, 15 August 2010 23:56 (fifteen years ago)
And I'm not gonna defend Boris. You like em or you don't. I do, like, a bunch.
All that fun stuff having been said, I am getting Snuffbox Immanence as we speak.
― zorn_bond.mp3, Sunday, 15 August 2010 23:57 (fifteen years ago)
waht is happening on this thread
― P oco, Sunday, 15 August 2010 23:59 (fifteen years ago)
lol. i figured boris to have a big ilm fanbase (i'm ambivalent about boris, mostly).
― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 16 August 2010 00:00 (fifteen years ago)
I have apparently stirred the pot? xp
― zorn_bond.mp3, Monday, 16 August 2010 00:01 (fifteen years ago)
And Daniel I don't know that I represent ILM by any means, but if I recall correctly their polls here have been popular affairs.
boris are hit or miss but when they hit they hit hard
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cjUITjfwcg
ghost are a little more consistent but yeah they're not like boris much
― puerile aretha franklin jokes (crüt), Monday, 16 August 2010 00:02 (fifteen years ago)
i am confident that you represent ilm.
― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 16 August 2010 00:02 (fifteen years ago)
both are great fuck the haters
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 16 August 2010 00:02 (fifteen years ago)
Amon Duul??
― P oco, Monday, 16 August 2010 00:02 (fifteen years ago)
Right I mean I feel like saying that "Boris is consistent" is like saying "restaurants are consistent." There are so many different kinds of Boris that you can't rely on them to do The Thing They Do because there is no Thing. There is just The Stuff.

lol @ fushitsusha fan calling out boris for not living up to the hype
― call all destroyer, Monday, 16 August 2010 00:44 (fifteen years ago)
you are kidding right? ever seen Fushitsusha live? I am guessing not ... Boris are so mediocre , Fushitsusha move mountains
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 00:55 (fifteen years ago)
why would i have seen them live? after hearing so much about the legendary haino that i had to investigate, i was treated to albums worth of really dull stoner garage.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 16 August 2010 00:58 (fifteen years ago)
boris v. fushitsusha shaping up like godzilla v. megalon.
― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 16 August 2010 01:01 (fifteen years ago)
Boris are seriously one of the lamest bands ever. They put their finger to the wind, thought that being Japanese and doing sludge a-la Melvins would be the way to go. dude I bought the fucking Melvins 'Bullhead' LP on Boner when the fucker first came out. so "Boris" decided to tie their wagon to the Japanese hard rock tradition. well, they don't match up. it actually depresses me that folks like Akita work with them. And people like 'call all destroyer' get all defensive about their beloved Boris. Fuck Boris, they fucking suck compared to the great Japanese rock bands
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:05 (fifteen years ago)
Fushitsusha live at the Empty Bottle in 1997 was truly a life-changing show ... just unreal....
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:07 (fifteen years ago)
oh now it's fucking on
― zorn_bond.mp3, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:09 (fifteen years ago)
i was ready to let it go but
This thread is A+++ hi-larious
― P oco, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:09 (fifteen years ago)
Speaking of being a racist, it's cool that Boris thought "being Japanese" would be the way to go, real clever of you to catch that
― zorn_bond.mp3, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:10 (fifteen years ago)
yeah it is
i mean, the very idea...
the very idea that you can even COMPARE Fushitsusha to a bunch of lamestains like Boris is fucking hilarious
Fushitsusha one of the best entities of all fucking time
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:11 (fifteen years ago)
I remember when Wata e-mailed me all like "yoooo we've finally figured it out: we're gonna be JAPANESE!!!"
― zorn_bond.mp3, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:11 (fifteen years ago)
I just don't get why it is necessary to compare bands on account of their nationality. This is like the new Anglophilia.
― P oco, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:11 (fifteen years ago)
ppl like 'stormy davis' pulling nonsensical i-was-there old dude bullshit. and i never said i 'loved' boris or anything close. but i'm done here.
― call all destroyer, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:12 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, cuz the melvins were so fucking hip in 96. (i was into the melvins then, there was noone less hip then that melvins.)
you must hate Keiji Haino with Boris - Black: Implication Flooding then.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 16 August 2010 01:12 (fifteen years ago)
hahaha "he was there" when it comes to japanese rock music because he bought a melvins lp one time
― zorn_bond.mp3, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:13 (fifteen years ago)
nah, whatever, I've loved all these bands, and followed their careers!! cool if you think I am wrong, that's the point of a message board. fact of the matter, tho -- yeah, Boris SUCK compared to like everybody
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:16 (fifteen years ago)

ha, that elton song is pretty rad. he is like on of last classic rock ppl that I *haven't* gone ahead and and bought everything by.
Still, I *know* I need 'Tumbleweed Connection'...
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:25 (fifteen years ago)
*Tumbleweed Connection* is fire from start to finish ... need a UNI original w/ the booklet tho....
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:26 (fifteen years ago)
madman across the water!
― not everything is a campfire (ian), Monday, 16 August 2010 01:32 (fifteen years ago)
i have a love-hate feeling about elton john's catalog. half-love (someone saved my life tonight; levon), half-hate (island girl; the bitch is back; almost anything post 1979).
― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 16 August 2010 01:33 (fifteen years ago)
as far as 'unlikely places for a clusterfuck' goes, this is pretty good.
I like most of the bands in question! Ghost were decent enough but kinda boring live though, besides the guitar heroics of Kurihara.
― Antoine Bugleboy (Merdeyeux), Monday, 16 August 2010 01:33 (fifteen years ago)
yeah, 'Madman' is a cool LP too, has that guy B.J. Cole on slide guitar
― Stormy Davis, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:34 (fifteen years ago)
B.J. Cole was *everywhere* in the 70s...
i knew we could all come together

o_O at this thread
― original bgm, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:45 (fifteen years ago)
I think this is otm:
thing is, they're so hit or miss that I've stopped paying attention unless kurihara is in the mix.
― original bgm, Monday, 16 August 2010 01:46 (fifteen years ago)
Ghost: love 'em, enjoy a good number of the albums. Saw them live a year or two ago in front of maybe 100 people and they killed it. Great psychedelic set that meandered and then refocused. My girlfriend loved them too.
Boris: awesome band, great live show. The albums can be hit-or-miss, but they have at least 9-10 albums that HIT and hit hard.
Melvins: legendary, and incredible. Can't beat their live show either. I've seen them blow numerous headliners off the stage as they knocked out the opening slot.
Fushitsusha: still exploring their catalog (CDs are hard to find/expensive!) but I've liked what I've heard, though not quite as much as...
Keiji Haino: ...whose solo efforts are generally quite awesome, and preferable to Fushitsusha.
Elton John: zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

I like Ghost, I like Boris, but man, Rainbow bores me. Is Cloud Chamber much different?
Ghost were decent enough but kinda boring live though
