this is a very un-definitive best-of, i need to relisten to the entire tapes but these are ones that subconsciously entered the ipod rotation

i like the Cold War tapes a lot, but half those songs i don't give a fuck about, like "Dangers Not A Stranger" and "Timothy". tempted to vote for Guccimerica over my usual favorite, 3D. but then i haven't heard any of the pre-'09 ones in full.

danger's not a stranger had one of the best beats & timothy was dude stretching out narratively, definitely two of the best ones off that imo

i think guccimerica is def the strongest of the cold war tapes

is there any solid news yet on when he's dropping his next proper album? last one turned out good, curious to see what he'd do within the major label framework right now.

"Timothy" is a novelty in the context of his catalog but that doesn't mean I want to listen to it more than any of his other more typical songs, and "Danger"'s hook just annoys the shit out of me.

"Follow Me" is so fucking great, might be my favorite beat of the past year

i really like flawed tracks that add dimension to his catalog, like timothy (i mean 'flawed' in a structural way, not necessarily in a 'this is not a great song' way)

I officially love Mr Zone 6 and Burrrprint 3D. they're sinister sounding things. Gucci Sosa I need more time with, mostly cuz his lyrics are harder to decipher than on the other two, so I need to listen to it uninterrupted.

writing's on the wall, burrprint 3d and i guess a judiciously compiled cold war compendium would be the classics for me. i haven't really got into mr zone 6 to the extent that the rest of you have.

ima have to listen to Gucci with headphones cuz he's so hard to decipher on some of these mixes. usually just takes one good listen for the lyrics to stick.

surfboard do you really think who DJs these mixes has any effect on the quality or song selection or anything? i felt like Cold War was the ultimate debunking of that, it was just his way of doing a favor to or aligning himself with 3 DJs at the same time.

I don't know. that's why I asked. personally, I don't think creatively it makes a difference but there's obviously something going on...The Movie was a big deal, Burrprint 3D was crazy and Mr. Zone 6 is by far his best post-jail mixtape. it's arguably better or at least as good as SVRD

everyone lauded the Lil Wayne/DJ Drama combo after Dedication and Dedication 2. it would be interesting if the same thing were going on with Gucci because I've never really thgouht of him as someone associated much in people's mind with Drama

there are more replayable tracks off 'guccimerica' for me -- hooks & concepts are just stronger, even if lyrically hes more focused on mr. zone 6
