Whitney Houston and Enrique Iglesias - Could I Have This Night Forever

Every syllable that ever left the mouth of James Taylor. He always sounds completely disinterested, like he's singing the song with roughly the same amount of passion reserved for eating a sandwich or trimming his toenails. To a slightly lesser extent, the sae is true of Jackson Browne.

If a song is memorable then isn't it in a way innately not boring?
― you doesn't hasta call me johnson (CaptainLorax), Saturday, 14 August 2010 18:48 (fifteen years ago)
anything with Alicia Keys, but she bores me so much that i actually get irritated, so idk if she counts
― karl...arlk...rlka...lkar..., Saturday, 14 August 2010 18:48 (fifteen years ago)
I find Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs to be an incredibly dull song, especially when it gets to the guitar solo which has no imagination and just copies the boring vocal melody of the verse.
I heard Chasing Cars recently but I'm not sure that's any more boring than the songs already mentioned by them on this thread.

― Joanie Loves Shakuhachi (corey), Saturday, 14 August 2010 20:32 (fifteen years ago)
bah, 90% of these songs are too awful and grating and hateable to qualify as boring. the other 10% are genuinely good & some of you people are insane. this may as well be a worst songs of all time thread with some contrarian bullshit thrown in for good measure.

I meant to say that instead of bumping would have to include "Careless Whisper" and "Sex and Candy
I don't care about "sex and candy"

― plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Sunday, 15 August 2010 14:09 (fifteen years ago)
I used to love 'This Is Love' but I'm guessing it probably is quite dull.
I find a lot of emo and metalcore of the last ten years boring just because it's so interchangeable. Bands such as Athlete, Snow Patrol and Coldplay are bordering more on offensive but are still pretty fucking boring.
I wonder if anyone finds minimal house/techno/electronica or ambient music boring...

My gf and I - both completely out of the "indie" loop - recently decided we'd listen to the new National album to see what all the fuss was about. I downloaded it and put it on my iPod and we tried listening to it in the car - AND WE KEPT FORGETTING THAT IT WAS ON. We'd listen for a few minutes, then get distracted by something, start talking, and then be all "shit, let's go back, we just missed like three songs," and we'd go back, and the same thing would happen.
That's far worse a fate than hearing "Lady In Red" and demanding it be turned off immediately (which I have done). Who was it that said the opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference?
"No Return" is madness, that song rules. "If...If I could see / just...how lonely MY LIFE would be / if yooooou...passed me by..."
― If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Sunday, 15 August 2010 15:01 (fifteen years ago)
Indeed. Lady In Red is Abu Ghraib torture. The National is... what exactly? I've heard three albums by them and seen them live three times and I couldn't tell you a single thing about them...
― Duran (Doran), Sunday, 15 August 2010 16:05 (fifteen years ago)
i had a high school friend who was really into Chris DeBurgh -- never could figure out WHY.
― The Beatles are not pizza!!! (Eisbaer), Sunday, 15 August 2010 16:10 (fifteen years ago)
this happens to me with a lot of albums, not just indie ones. and yeah, it's partially true with this new nat'l album, but i have to exclude bloodbuzz ohio from that assessment. that song's a compelling, memorable monster.
― Daniel, Esq., Sunday, 15 August 2010 16:34 (fifteen years ago)
most boring songs fron bands who arent boring:

LCD Soundsystem - Somebody's Calling Me
...
― Zeno, Sunday, 15 August 2010 16:50 (fifteen years ago)
congrats assholes/airport, you're the 47 thousandth guy to talk about how the national is boring!
― call all destroyer, Sunday, 15 August 2010 16:54 (fifteen years ago)
not sure what the point of the music in the car thing was, I lose focus on music in the car all the time, has to do with the fact that I dunno, YOU'RE DRIVING and stuff.
― plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Sunday, 15 August 2010 16:55 (fifteen years ago)
In some ways I think the car is the ideal place to experience an album for the first time. Home is where I'm distracted.
When we listened o the new Swans album on the same trip, we both just shit right the fuck up and let it play. Then we wanted to hear it again.
― If Assholes Could Fly This Place Would Be An Airport, Sunday, 15 August 2010 18:06 (fifteen years ago)
I mean yea I get distracted at home too but I can't listen to really involved things like progressive rock in the car cuz I miss too much due to concentrating on the road.

"Solo Dolo" from the Kid Cudi album, mostly because it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SLOW.

― max, Sunday, 15 August 2010 22:44 (fifteen years ago)
Anything from Roddy 'Idlewild' Woomble's solo album. Utterly dreary earnest folk rock, about as charismatic as a piece of toast. Was subjected to this in Artisan Roast, Glasgow. Nice coffee, but sort your music out!
