i'm still missing Counterparts though, but i've been told it's the ideal one to be missing

ciderpress, Friday, 13 August 2010 18:43 (fifteen years ago)

Dopethrone, you mean? Dopesmoker was #16.

d'oh! that's exactly what i meant.

ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:44 (fifteen years ago)

Counterparts is still better than Test for Echo. xp

Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 18:44 (fifteen years ago)

dan can you change thread title to 10 instead of 50 please? Most wont realise we will be finishing in an hour or so. 75 mins max.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:45 (fifteen years ago)

instead of 20, i mean

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:45 (fifteen years ago)

so far this list has been badass as hell. the amount of upset it's causing is hilarious.

GREAT GUY: (marc iv), Friday, 13 August 2010 18:47 (fifteen years ago)

No-one talking about Paranoid but it's the most consistent Sabbath album for me, only one pointless number (Rat Salad) and I never need to hear the title track again, but the rest of it...probably their worst album cover though.

New thread title suggestion:

"I realize I'm exercising poor form here, but yes. I am formally questioning the validity of these results.": ILX HEAVY ROCK/METAL ALBUM POLL COUNTDOWN IN THE TOP 10 (ADDED BONUS: GET INSULTED BY A REAL LIVE DOG!)

Paranoid is my least favourite of the first six Sabbath albums but it's still a great record. Just not one I listen to much.

Gavin in Leeds, Friday, 13 August 2010 18:50 (fifteen years ago)

and now for an album by "the velvet underground of stoner rock/metal"

Even though I have Paranoid on cd now, I still have the cassette configuration in my head and almost never make it past the first half. But that first half is PHENOMENAL.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 18:51 (fifteen years ago)

Oh cool, wasn't expecting that!

Gavin in Leeds, Friday, 13 August 2010 18:52 (fifteen years ago)

Great Kyuss album, very glad to see it place here.

Hey Jabulani! Pope of four four two. (aldo), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:02 (fifteen years ago)

Wait, which major Sabbath hasn't dropped yet? Vol. 4? Sabbath Bloody Sabbath? And still Zep 4 (right?), Slayer ... Boris again? Not a lot of space left!

Josh in Chicago, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:05 (fifteen years ago)

Vol 4 and MOR I think?

the same relation to machines as that which machines have to man (Matt #2), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:06 (fifteen years ago)

It's a big ilx metal album, but not enough to break the top 5.

where is everyone btw?
rollout is every 10 mins and we will be done in an hour and needle will be rolled out in a different thread (and at the end of that you can post your ballots).
ps can someone do the recap for me?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:07 (fifteen years ago)

Vol 4 to drop next methinks

ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:08 (fifteen years ago)

How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:08 (fifteen years ago)

I voted for that one.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:09 (fifteen years ago)

6, 7 and 9 were all surprises to me. Stoners motivated to vote! Weird.

glenn mcdonald, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

dan you want to change the title to 5? (please)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

i love stoner rock/metal but I've never smoked!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:12 (fifteen years ago)

Vol. 4, Zep IV, Ride the Lightning, MOR?

von kelson, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

Glenn -

it's the ex-stoners that vote for things that remind them of when they were stoners. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

Because they can't actually remember being stoners, or remember anything else in fact

the same relation to machines as that which machines have to man (Matt #2), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

2 sab's in the top 4?

ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

High 'N' Dry, Long Cold Winter, Out of the Cellar, Shout at the Devil.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 13 August 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah well good point, though I do try to interject with more "complaining" LOL-worthy asides and less so OMG THERE IS A BLACK METAL ALBUM IN THE TOP 20, I WILL SB EVERY VOTER ONCE I SEE YR BALLOTS, THESE RESULTS HAVE GOT TO BE MADE UP...

^hahahaha, i was kidding about the SB's. Everybody's going to have their disagreements with polls, especially with so few people voting in them. Part of the fun is everybody disagreeing, this would be super boring if we all had consensus.

Not kidding about my dislike of the new-fangled "Nerd-metal" though!

What the hell is a needle?

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Friday, 13 August 2010 19:17 (fifteen years ago)

Manilla Road's "Don't Punch Me in the Face, I'm Wearing Glasses"

Needle = www.needlebase.com, the data-analysis software I work on in my day-job, which we used to tabulate this (and the 2009 Pazz & Jop, and the EM Discordance, and a bunch of things that have nothing to do with music).
