Dude, how is there not a wikipedia article about "Down Boys"? What was up with the trenchcoat guy in the video? What is a "down boy"?
― r.i.p. soup (kkvgz), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:51 (fifteen years ago)
lj & ez are polar opposites.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)
Prolly a bunch of stuff from 1995-present that I've never heard of and would likely hate, and then some Zep, Sabbath, and maybe something I'm not expecting but will be happy about. xps
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)
Black Sabbath Black Sabbath was scientifically determine to be the first modern metal album last night.
― r.i.p. soup (kkvgz), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)
I heard once that "down boys" were male prostitutes, so make of that what you will.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)
i never understood the 'record that invented (genre) is the best because it was the first' stance, like would you expect 'rapper's delight' to win a rap songs poll?
― ciderpress, Friday, 13 August 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)
WELL, CLASSIC METAL AND 'PINK' BY BORIS WHICH HAS 'FAREWELL' ON IT, THE ULTIMATE FALSE-METAL HIPSTER CHOON ^_^
― BLACK METAL IST KRIIIIIIIEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGG (acoleuthic), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:54 (fifteen years ago)
LJ's fave boris tune btw
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:55 (fifteen years ago)
happens a lot in metal. Though pretty much every genre suffers from it.
i never understood the 'record that invented (genre) is the best because it was the first' stance
sooooooo much this
Black Sabbath don't sound THAT heavy in the context of what's come since
suggest ban ->
― BLACK METAL IST KRIIIIIIIEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGG (acoleuthic), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:56 (fifteen years ago)
hahahaha whoops
on ILM metal seems to be split into pre 90 and post 90, and those who only listen to one of those camps are missing out BIG STYLE imo
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:57 (fifteen years ago)
uh-oh, Bill's gonna go mental (and quite possibly medieval on your asses). pray to whatever dark gods you cower to that Master of Reality may come up top, o lowly-bred infidels!
― ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:57 (fifteen years ago)
LJ is The Lex of metal.
Johnny Fever is a younger Homer Simpson Chuck.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:58 (fifteen years ago)

xp: Johnny Fever, did you vote for Foghat in this poll?
― r.i.p. soup (kkvgz), Friday, 13 August 2010 14:59 (fifteen years ago)
Maybe I am like Chuck in the way that I champion what I truly like, but I honestly think I have better taste. LOL
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 15:00 (fifteen years ago)
we all champion what we truly like, I know I do.

too low
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 15:01 (fifteen years ago)
As far as post'90 '80s style metal goes, I was into Saigon Kick for their first couple albums. But then they kind of imploded after a tiny mtv hit (which of course was an acoustic ballad in the wake of "More Than Words").
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 15:03 (fifteen years ago)
We're in the top 20, anyone who says too low from now on gets their bollocks smeared in gravy, tied up and left dangling for Henry.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:04 (fifteen years ago)
awesome album, always been a close second to ride the lightning for me though
― ciderpress, Friday, 13 August 2010 15:05 (fifteen years ago)
This poll is just too metal for bill.
^Screw you Herm. YOu know where I was last night. A FUCKING SLAYER CONCERT. You can take your Borises,Sleepy Bananas Gorilla Shit Museum, Slough Fegs, Nirvanas and Black MEtal dorks and SHOVE THEM UP YOUR ASS. What i saw last night was fucking pulverizing and kicks the shit out of the 90% of this list that isnt Sabbath.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:06 (fifteen years ago)
The dudes in Banana Sleepy Gorilla shit would be cowering in fear if they had to share the stage with fucking Slayer.
too high imo
― ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:07 (fifteen years ago)
While Bill and I probably don't see completely eye to eye on what's good and what's not, we are unified in disgust of this list as a whole.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 15:07 (fifteen years ago)
metal is all about verse-chorus thrashing w/ pentatonic melodic sensibility and guitar solos
that is what metal is and we have ruined it
― BLACK METAL IST KRIIIIIIIEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGG (acoleuthic), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:08 (fifteen years ago)
rip metal
this list is severely lacking in KISS imo

Metal is what I witnessed last night. Not Ulver. Not even close.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:10 (fifteen years ago)
Bill did you vote for a slayer album made in the last 19 years?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:11 (fifteen years ago)
My top Metallica album placed way low on this poll, but Master of Puppets at least has Orion - my #1 pick from the tracks poll - on it. I haven't listened to the record as a whole in years either, but I've had Damage Inc. floating around in and out of my head for a few days (amongst all this other metal!).
― r.i.p. soup (kkvgz), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:13 (fifteen years ago)
I didn't, but that's because I didn't double up all that much. I would stan for the newest one and Christ Illusion, though. xp

Henry is waiting btw hes hungry.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 13 August 2010 15:17 (fifteen years ago)
Metallica, GnR... let's go ahead and clear out all those despicable touchstones.
Megadeth, anyone?
Appetite pretty much transcends hair metal, dudes. It's among the ALL TIME greats in popular music in general.
― Johnny Fever, Friday, 13 August 2010 15:18 (fifteen years ago)
eh, I guess
It's only got three really good songs on it and one's a cover
