ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Thursday, 12 August 2010 18:47 (fifteen years ago)

even more confident about my wish that proto-punk/punk/alternative/grunge stuff was more forcibly excluded from the proceedings

dark twisted fanta girl (some dude), Thursday, 12 August 2010 18:50 (fifteen years ago)

only 4 of my top ten to go btw. -_-

ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Thursday, 12 August 2010 18:51 (fifteen years ago)

Only 4 of my top 10 left too, with no real hope for 2 of those. 1 I figure is guaranteed.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 18:55 (fifteen years ago)

your #1?

ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:01 (fifteen years ago)

My position on Mastodon is well known, so I will just say that the mere idea that Mastodon has done anything better than Sad Wings of Destiny should be punishable by death.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:02 (fifteen years ago)

no, not my #1

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:04 (fifteen years ago)

4 of my top ten left too, 3 of them ought to make it. 4 left in my 11-20 and I think my 21-30 too.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:04 (fifteen years ago)

gg eileen (jjjusten), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:11 (fifteen years ago)

Back In Black is great, but I totally understand how overplayed it is.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

Possibly why it didn't go top 10 (and there's people under 35 voting)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:13 (fifteen years ago)

AC/DC hate getting called metal anyway.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:18 (fifteen years ago)

you know I don't think I realized there were two significant eras of AC/DC until like 5 years ago

How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:18 (fifteen years ago)

A fine American metal album.

Dianno did wear a dog collar after all.

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:27 (fifteen years ago)

Number Of The Beast was stuck on 666 points for a couple of days until some late arsehole voted for it and spoiled it.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:29 (fifteen years ago)

out the beast!

ha, wolves, what a bunch of sissies (Ioannis), Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:33 (fifteen years ago)

Razor's Edge (1990) and Stiff Upper Lip (2000) aren't bad. Black Ice has its moments. One decent album per decade.

Number of the Beast was my first 80s metal album. Still rules.

Fastnbulbous, Thursday, 12 August 2010 19:33 (fifteen years ago)

every ac/dc album is trumpeted as their best since back in black

I would say "Yield" is Pearl Jam's avant garde album.

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 12 August 2010 20:20 (fifteen years ago)

Celtic Frost's impact on the evolution of European heavy metal cannot be overstated. Along with power metal kings Helloween (and to a lesser degree, the sometimes cartoonish Mercyful Fate), Frost's enduring influence on Europe's heavy metal landscape is arguably comparable to Metallica's standing in America. Labeled by critics as "avant-garde" for their radical fusion of violent black metal and elements of classical music, the band represented a distinctly European metal perspective.
...
On To Mega Therion, Warrior had begun experimenting with different musical styles (especially classical music and electronica), leading certain journalists to describe the band's direction as "avant-garde" metal. Released in 1987, Into the Pandemonium would substantiate these claims and then some, introducing an unconventional collision of death metal brutality and symphonic overtones on its way to becoming one of the classic extreme metal albums of all time. Frost's most defining and influential work

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 20:21 (fifteen years ago)

I have the two aforementioned Celtic Frost albums, and while they're interesting, have had trouble getting into 'em. Opeth has a nice cover of "Circle of the Tyrants" on My Arms, Your Hearse.
