"I hate this album, so I ranked it #1"
I do dislike this album, but it has some good songs on it-->What Is and What Should Never Be, Ramble On, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid, even Whole Lotta Love. But it's a fucking chore to sit through. Way worse than the slowest longest Boris album.
― demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)
this certainly did not get my vote. If you could put negative votes in, to essentially negate somebody else's positive vote, i would vote this #1

(hey Dan how do you think GAPDYX--sans G--made it on the top 10 last year. ILX polls are MAGICAL!)
― demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:54 (fifteen years ago)
GAPDYX should be called NODIX.

Sad Wings far, far too low. Like stupidly low. I don't like you all now.― EZ Snappin, Thursday, August 12, 2010 7:55 AM (Yesterday) Bookmark

lol
GAPDYX made it to the top 10 because a lot of people genuinely like those bands; those results didn't surprise me at all. It's really easy to see several vociferous haters and just assume that everyone else agrees with them, or to take burnout by critics on an album as an indicator of burnout by the listeners but there's really no correlation in either case.

^ this. See also: Presence, which is at least more varied.
― Ismael Klata, Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:59 (fifteen years ago)
see this poll is just making me want to pick up all of the LZ albums because I only ever owned IV on cassette and I keep being reminded that pretty much all of them have fucking amazing songs on them
― How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:01 (fifteen years ago)
actually I had a copy of II back in high school and I'm sorry but if you think something with "Ramble On" and "Whole Lotta Love" is a chore to sit through, you are not actually human
― How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:02 (fifteen years ago)
Zep II was my first Zep album, bought used for 50¢ in 1981. Played it to death for years, and don't need to hear it to bring track after track to mind. Definitely burned out on it (and didn't vote for it) but I still recall it fondly.
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:03 (fifteen years ago)
(lol I was going to follow up with "so sez the dude who forgot to vote for Led Zepplin II" but looking back on my ballot, I did)
― How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:04 (fifteen years ago)
(also I'm going out on a very creaky limb and predicting that IV is going to be #1)
― How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:06 (fifteen years ago)
If there is any justice Black Sabbath's self-titled debut should be #1.
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:07 (fifteen years ago)
what are the chances more Rush is going to pop up on here?

One of their best. Good entry point to the Boris catalog.

Pink obviously still to come.
I wonder if Absolutego will place, though?
Oh, for fucks sake.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:24 (fifteen years ago)
Bill, did you vote for Absolutego?
― ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:25 (fifteen years ago)
Another one? Wow - every Boris fan in the world is apparently on ILM. I learned something from this poll after all.
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:27 (fifteen years ago)
God, it's so great to see some non-American metal bands on this poll.
― ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:30 (fifteen years ago)
and bands with females in it too!!
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:31 (fifteen years ago)
Seriously, it was looking like an American sausage fest in here for a while.

― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:36 (fifteen years ago)
Crazy American bands like Led Zeppelin and Iron Maiden.
― EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:36 (fifteen years ago)
Not enough dogs on the thread.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:39 (fifteen years ago)
Good question, actually. A casual count comes up with something like a third non-American? Maybe more? Then again, I didn't want to assume every black metal band comes from Europe, so for all I know all that hard stuff will up the foreign (non-American) quotient.

This and Overkill and Ace Of Spades, seems well enough represented, though I prefer Bomber over the live one.
