Ow, too low. Has anyone got the proper sleeve with the turning wheel? What does it do?

x-post The turning wheel just changes what you can see through the sleeve, not unlike the Husker Du game.

With Zep III, five of my top ten have placed and I really wonder if people have bothered to listen to anything more than 20 years old. A shame, really.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 13:30 (fifteen years ago)

Boris and Ulver just a little overrated here. Did acloleuthic vote multiple times in this poll?

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 12 August 2010 13:31 (fifteen years ago)

He didn't vote at all! Which makes it more surprising.

I did! Of course most of my old picks have already placed but there's one still to come that I expect to be top 10

also I voted for NIN and Smashing Pumpkins so I'm kind of crazy

How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 13:39 (fifteen years ago)

Wouldn't have voted for Boris fwiw

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 13:57 (fifteen years ago)

Great album. Great cover too.

No better opening one-two punch than Ides of March going into Wratchild. Gets my heart pumping every time i hear it.

I haven't looked at 101-280 so can't comment. Just sad to see classics devalued for the another Boringus record.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

I'm thinking that this poll is overly skewed against modern metal but what do I know

BLACK METAL IST KRIIIIIIIEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGG (acoleuthic), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:05 (fifteen years ago)

Honestly, I think it should be skewed slightly against modern stuff - the older stuff has been vetted again and again, winnowed, weighed and only the best has made it through (not counting Manilla Road or a few others whose cult seem well represented here). The newer stuff may be as good, or even better, but it will take some time for it's value to be assessed.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:09 (fifteen years ago)

Flood & Zep III are both freaking classic!!! The Boris wz #10 on my ballot.

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:12 (fifteen years ago)

Flood is monumental...a lot to digest (hence the Boringus tag) but the patience is definitely rewarded.

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:13 (fifteen years ago)

Boris is a blind spot for me - I've checked out five or six records and not found one I cared to play again.

To think people were complaining there wasn't enough old stuff being posted today.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:28 (fifteen years ago)

Can't believe Flood placed this highly, that is AWESOME. I would've pushed it up higher had I voted.

To think people were complaining there wasn't enough old stuff being posted today.

Don't put words in my or anyone else's mouth. Wasn't talking about today, was talking about the top 100 so far; roughly 2/3 posted to this point is from the last 20 years as opposed to the 20 odd years prior.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:42 (fifteen years ago)

if BBW, Stag, and Tab places, then Drugs will be a happy camper! :D

How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)

I do dislike this album, but it has some good songs on it-->What Is and What Should Never Be, Ramble On, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid, even Whole Lotta Love. But it's a fucking chore to sit through. Way worse than the slowest longest Boris album.

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

this certainly did not get my vote. If you could put negative votes in, to essentially negate somebody else's positive vote, i would vote this #1

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)

(hey Dan how do you think GAPDYX--sans G--made it on the top 10 last year. ILX polls are MAGICAL!)

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:54 (fifteen years ago)

GAPDYX should be called NODIX.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:55 (fifteen years ago)

Sad Wings far, far too low. Like stupidly low. I don't like you all now.

Kent Burt, Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:57 (fifteen years ago)

lol

GAPDYX made it to the top 10 because a lot of people genuinely like those bands; those results didn't surprise me at all. It's really easy to see several vociferous haters and just assume that everyone else agrees with them, or to take burnout by critics on an album as an indicator of burnout by the listeners but there's really no correlation in either case.

How could you forget the crazy hooker? (HI DERE), Thursday, 12 August 2010 14:59 (fifteen years ago)
