Yes, ta very much! Ironically I prefer the slower Metallica version of Horsemen/Mechanix.

I think we've had most forms of metal/heavy rock here apart from the mainstreameurogothmetal.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:03 (thirteen years ago) link
that even dan doesn't like
Have we had any nu-metal?
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:08 (thirteen years ago) link
wait, what do you mean by "mainstreameurogothmetal"? because I don't have anything by them but Cradle of Filth is hysterical
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:09 (thirteen years ago) link
i was thinking that meant more like HIM
― NOT FUNNY NEEDS MORE CGI (jjjusten), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:10 (thirteen years ago) link
well HIM seems to be kind of boring
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:11 (thirteen years ago) link

re: nu-metal - SOAD came in at 193 with toxicity, if you count that.

I was going to continue on my "HIM seems unremarkable and inoffensive" spiel until I realized wait, I am listening to a cover of Chris Isaacs??????
fuck these guys
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:13 (thirteen years ago) link
okay lolling hardcore at Nightwish, aka "the poor man's Evanesence"
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:14 (thirteen years ago) link
Same here. Think of them more as art pop metal, if that's a thing.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:14 (thirteen years ago) link
I once deeply offended a German by telling him Nightwish were like Cradle of Filth but worse.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:15 (thirteen years ago) link
okay listening to Epica and um are all of these bands the poor man's Evanesence?
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:16 (thirteen years ago) link

― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:18 (thirteen years ago) link

after skimming through those bands I think I now understand why ppl listen to black metal
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:22 (thirteen years ago) link
why are we talking about "metal" for 12 year olds now?
I blame whoever asked about nu-metal.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:22 (thirteen years ago) link
dan, those bands are massively popular amongst girl rockers.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:23 (thirteen years ago) link
I could seem them being massively popular amongst voice snobs but that doesn't make them any less horrible
lol to prove my statement upthread, I am really enjoying this Dimmu Borgir song

I think once you grasp they were mad Christians the lyrics to Bring Me To Life and My Immortal (having not looked very far into their catalogue) put them into a whole different dimension. I think it makes them better, but maybe that's just me.

no I pretty much agree with you, although not enough to buy an Evanescence album
― HI DERE, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 19:35 (thirteen years ago) link
also Therion is way way way better than all of these Evanescence-esque bands including Evanescence
Houses Of The Holy - horrible cover apart, I'm never quite sure if it's their best or worst album.

setting aside that i think it's their best i don't really know how you can even begin to rationalize thinking it's their worst

Im not a big Zep fan, but the version of Over the Hills on that How the West Was Won live set is fucking spectacular. One of the best things i ever heard them do.
