btw this is the only Rush album I currently own, and it does in fact own
this is an unbelivable record. fucking genius.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 15:48 (fifteen years ago)
the story behind it is great: the record company apparently wanted a commercial pop album, or Rush would get canned. The boys essentially said "fuck you" and sent them this. Turned out to be the right move.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 15:49 (fifteen years ago)
oh yeah I voted for this too. This slayed my cassette tape deck, but before then it just totally slayed.

I love '70s Rush so much it's insane. These guys were so big where I grew up (Chicago) and I think they still are, even though i dont live there any more.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 15:51 (fifteen years ago)
then they did it in the 80s anyway?xp

Soundgarden and specifically Chris Cornell are the fucking nadir of hair metal-influenced hard-rock grunge bullshit.
But really, they're not. True, they've got a 'hair metal' album (Louder than Love, though it's got real substance to it) and on revision, some of Cornell's vocal histrionics - the 'YEEEAAAHH-HHHAAAS!' and the 'AWWWW-AAAWS!' - come across as hackneyed. But there's nothing bullshit about the tunes or the riffs.

Without Rush, the album listed at #83 doesnt exist. So liking them and not liking Rush makes no sense, Herm.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 16:10 (fifteen years ago)

Is that why your owner shaved them?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 16:12 (fifteen years ago)
or why you lick them?
I hate to encourage him, but in this case Henry is right. Out of that list that peeps keep reposting I am ok with (in this order) Melvins, Mudhoney, Nirvana, STP. Hate the rest of it, Soundgarden in particular (ok the first album is alright but if I never ever hear superunknown again this will be a life worth living).
― NOT FUNNY NEEDS MORE CGI (jjjusten), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 16:13 (fifteen years ago)
Sabotage @ 100 is unfortunate, but considering there's at least seven more Sabbath albums to come, it's not horrible. Lots of people think it's their best record, but it's also their least well known record, and it made the top 100 so that's okay...
Ace of Spades @ 99 is embarrassing (much of it is my fault; I didn't vote for it...)
― demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 16:15 (fifteen years ago)
my first soundgarden memory is riding to camp when i was like 5 or so and hearing Black Hole Sun come on the radio. LOVED that shit at 5.
― Mordy, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 16:15 (fifteen years ago)
ok, wasn't 5 apparently. was more like 10 i guess. hard to remember which year was which re: camp.

I don't even have a comment ready for this because I am still awash in the flagrant falseness of this entire list and am overwhelmed by righteous indignation.
Also I lick them because I can, and judging by the votes here I imagine most of you are simply jealous because you have tried and you can't.
