you mean the fact they sounded like an amalgam of PJ and AIC was just marketing convenience?
One album dude. And it still was better than Pearl Jam.

Will there be an appearance of Naked City and/or Painkiller? Or have those bands been forgotten?

glad we have grunge because i dont know what ninth grade wouldve been like without puddle of mudd
― markers, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:11 (fifteen years ago)
I don't remember if any of Zorn's jazzgrind was nominated. Comes from a different tradition even if the results were comparable so I'm not sure they fit the continuum this poll was aiming for.

then again, i actually like some puddle of mudd singles
― markers, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)
you know, everyone picks STP as THE grunge band to hate but they were actually kind of great; I don't know that they had a bad single
STP are secretly so much better than Soundgarden it's not even funny.

Puddle of Mudd sucks. Sukks?
Remastered Ozzy with original rhythm section restored - "Blizzard" and "Madman" - is returning in a few weeks.
― Josh in Chicago, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:25 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah, this only counts with the original rythm guys. If its the new version it is number 939,308,382,425 on my list.

(STP's fourth album is a great album, though, that I forgot to vote for (among other things like Houdini))

Sharon may be a harpy-shrew, but if not for her that Ozzy album may never have existed in the first place.
― Fastnbulbous, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:38 (fifteen years ago)
I'm not a big solo Ozzy guy. Hell, to be honest, if Ozzy fell off the earth in 1976 I'd have been fine with it.

I didn't vote for Dirt but I remember really loving all of the singles--actually the other songs are really good too. I listened to it again a couple months ago, and was shocked to find I liked it even more.
I did vote for Bullhead, placed it pretty high iirc. That's a great album, tons off great songs: Anaconda, Zodiac, It's Shoved, the awesome way that If I Had an Exorcism ends, and Cow begins, BORIS of course. It does sound a little thin, and could use a remastered edition, but everything on it is top-flight sludge.
Also: Hating Nevermind is about the most boring thing you could do on this thread (unless your name starts with an H and you rant against false steak at the vet). Shouldn't be in the top 50 priolley but 97 is too low (as is Ace of Spades @ 99 & Sabotage @ 100)

wish list:
-two more High on Fire albums (Art of Self Defense & Blessed Black Wings to be precise)-Melvins' Stag-Boris's Flood-Monster Magnet's Tab-Down's NOLA-Corrosion of Conformity's Blind-Stooges' Fun House at #1
― demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:47 (fifteen years ago)
I don't hate Nevermind, in fact it's probably a fine album. I know most of the tunes/melodies by heart. I also haven't heard it since, oh, freshman year of college, and I've no desire to hear it again anytime soon.
xxp

Unfortunately this will not happen. :(
i dont think anyone blames you for not wanting to listen to nevermind

Hating Nevermind is about the most boring thing you could do on this thread
^to quote a song on Sabotage, which Nevermind somehow beat, it may be boring but "that's my story and Im sticking to it"
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:50 (fifteen years ago)
I don't hate Nevermind by any means, I just think it's the least interesting Nirvana album.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)
I could see either of the two Masters (Puppets, Reality) at #1. You heard it here first.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:52 (fifteen years ago)
^xp this I can accept...
hey Bill did you vote for NOLA???
― demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:53 (fifteen years ago)
Angel Dust much lower than I thought it would be! Not REALLY that metal, but otoh Jizzlobber is heavy as all fuck
I don't think we're going to see the Mr Bungle s/t here, which is a shame, because My Ass Is On Fire is one of the best metal songs I know
― BLACK METAL IST KRIIIIIIIEEEEGGGGGGGGGGGG (acoleuthic), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:54 (fifteen years ago)

Bill & co, was ozzy solo too pop metal commercial for you? I know a lot of sabbath fans hate solo ozzy.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:57 (fifteen years ago)
Have you heard Angel Dust all the way through, Drugs A Money? If not, do it now.
― rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:59 (fifteen years ago)
I did not, I did have Stone the Crow on my song ballot however.
Herm, I like some of the Rhoades guitar work, but Ozzy solo is not my cup of tea. Especially in light of the awesome shit that Sabbath rolled out with Dio. It just seemed like kind of a joke compared with what he did before.
― Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 14:59 (fifteen years ago)
some real metal coming to make up for the totally false metal that follows it that j3ff treppel pushed into the top 100

Ozzy was the least piece of Sabbath, as the Dio years ably proved. So watered down Ozzy wasn't something to look forward too, IMO.
