random ppl on the internet have written far wilder & more out-there stuff on gucci, that's pretty average fare.

zvookster, Tuesday, 10 August 2010 22:13 (fifteen years ago)

"Stove Music" from mr. zone 6 is so amazing

the way yo gotti pronounces "mruuzik" and "confruuze it" also "lames gon cop it d-boys gon abruuuse it"

and then the whole rest of his verse.

surfboard dudes get wiped out, totally, Wednesday, 11 August 2010 20:58 (fifteen years ago)

Has anyone noticed Gucci's speech impediment that makes him pronounce anything starting with st- as "sk-" i.e. "Make you scrip (strip) same way these hoes do it" or "I'm back on these skreets"? I've never heard anyone say it that way

A solo Beatle--Paul, George, John, Yoko, etc. (Whitey on the Moon), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 21:17 (fifteen years ago)

lol gucci didn't invent that or anything

k3vin k., Wednesday, 11 August 2010 21:19 (fifteen years ago)

Lol yeah that's a p common dialect thing iirc

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 August 2010 22:10 (fifteen years ago)

That shit makes yo gotti sound like a retard, also his verse is worthless

J0rdan S., Wednesday, 11 August 2010 22:11 (fifteen years ago)

xp I've never been to the South irl but of all the ATL rappers I've listened to for years I never noticed this pronunciation pattern.

A solo Beatle--Paul, George, John, Yoko, etc. (Whitey on the Moon), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 22:18 (fifteen years ago)

accents in the South are cray. I love ATL too.

plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 22:25 (fifteen years ago)

On third listen of Gucci Time, repetitive Justice sample is still annoying as hell (and I love Justice), but I think it might click soon like most of the songs on Mr. Zone 6

skreet instead of street is just slang dudes

blap...tremendo (deej), Wednesday, 11 August 2010 23:54 (fifteen years ago)

The Reverend, Thursday, 12 August 2010 05:31 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 August 2010 06:03 (fifteen years ago)

J0rdan S., Thursday, 12 August 2010 06:07 (fifteen years ago)

― blap...tremendo (deej), Wednesday, August 11, 2010 7:54 PM (Yesterday)

k3vin k., Thursday, 12 August 2010 15:00 (fifteen years ago)

Drumma Boy's beat on "All About the Money"=pure weight. man that bass line, so sinister and pulsating, coupled with those synths....Gucci killing it too makes this a current favorite.

plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Friday, 13 August 2010 02:17 (fifteen years ago)

I live in the south and have heard skrimp instead of shrimp for at least 20 years. That's all.

is Back to the Trap House good? couldn't find a review in a respected media publication (just some lame Hip Hop blog that said Gucci's the worst rapper in the world, which discreditedi t immediately).

plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Saturday, 14 August 2010 16:51 (fifteen years ago)

Ok, so anybody who isn't a sardonic ass wanna reply? part of the reason I'm asking is that Best Buy has it (I still buy cds see), and I was asking for a recommendation since I'm going to be gone most of the weekend and don't have time to d/l it or go on youtube and listen to it. i was probably gonna get it anyway, but I was just curious as to YOUr opinions since I respect them.

xxpost thanks k3vin

plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Saturday, 14 August 2010 16:57 (fifteen years ago)

I don't care for it.

a hoy hoy, Saturday, 14 August 2010 17:30 (fifteen years ago)

i got the other trap house albums for completist purposes, going to d/l the rest of the mixtapes soon. I now officially have way too much music to listen to in the next week.

plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Saturday, 14 August 2010 17:32 (fifteen years ago)

Back to the traphouse is pretty good, but its a notch below his post-08 stuff

I reviewed it for popmatters but the review probably isn't that good tbh

be my anchor baby (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 August 2010 19:12 (fifteen years ago)

It's something you can look back on and see the roots of gucci's goofy pop brilliance, but lyrically its not on the same level as the mixtape stuff that came after it

be my anchor baby (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 August 2010 19:14 (fifteen years ago)

Has some classics tho -- I might be, 15 minutes, bird flu, freaky gurl etc

be my anchor baby (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 August 2010 19:15 (fifteen years ago)

yea i might be is the only song i ever go back to on that tbh

johnny crunch, Saturday, 14 August 2010 19:20 (fifteen years ago)

Song is most notable for providing the Jackie chain hook imo

be my anchor baby (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 14 August 2010 19:22 (fifteen years ago)

k I actually cancelled the one order and picked up Back to the Trap House and Murder was the Case (which yea I know is some new songs combined with some old ones, but figured itw asn't a bad start). gonna hafta go reload up on CD-Rs for the mixtapes.

I'm amazed at the great divide of thought on Gucci Mane. even though his albums are successful, a lot more mainstream or casual fans tend to say he sucks than someone like, T.I., per se. I don't get the criticisms. Are people really buying his albums and expecting him to drop lyrics like Tribe CAlled Quest?

plate of dinosaurs (San Te), Saturday, 14 August 2010 21:00 (fifteen years ago)

never heard it round here, where accents are more about bending vowels and R's, always associate skreets with earlier slurrier T.I.

honorary falser (some dude), Saturday, 14 August 2010 21:08 (fifteen years ago)

yay gucci sosa came in the mail

yeah it's such bullshit that SO many people who give Rick Ross a free pass still hate on Gucci

honorary falser (some dude), Saturday, 14 August 2010 21:18 (fifteen years ago)

some people wear hating rappers as a badge of honor. I did for many years. I guess the shame that comes with potentially loving a "wack" rapper is too much to bear for any mortal man.
