Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:02 (fifteen years ago)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:08 (fifteen years ago)

more lunacy and witchcraft! (kkvgz), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:11 (fifteen years ago)

Skot or unperson around? chuck? (chuck has a loose definition of metal, try asking him).
Have you seen his Stairway To Hell book?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:12 (fifteen years ago)

Alice in Chains maybe? (as a starting point)

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:14 (fifteen years ago)

My definition is basically based on bands being influenced by other bands or sounding similar. Also if a band insists they are metal, I'll take them at their word. Not so much if they insist they aren't metal though...

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:15 (fifteen years ago)

Motorhead say they arent metal

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:17 (fifteen years ago)

exactly my point.

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

They even invented the metal ballad - see "1914"

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:18 (fifteen years ago)

i seem to remember a few hair metal bands in kerrang saying they were metal but then on MTV saying they weren't heavy metal they were heavy rock to not put people off.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:19 (fifteen years ago)

anyway more false metal coming up

people are for loving (HI DERE), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:20 (fifteen years ago)

Red Barchetta is such a great song. Hard to pick a favorite on Moving Pictures though, they're all great.

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 16:24 (fifteen years ago)

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Friday, 6 August 2010 17:18 (fifteen years ago)

yup

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 17:20 (fifteen years ago)

my ballot is pretty false, but even I couldn't bring myself to vote for Pearl Jam (only grunge on it is Soundgarden). so far Presence and Bad Reputation are the only things from it that have shown up.

some dude, Friday, 6 August 2010 17:30 (fifteen years ago)

I didn't vote for them either

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 17:40 (fifteen years ago)

Giving that Saxon album a listen. Stand Up and Be Counted is great!

Neil S, Friday, 6 August 2010 17:49 (fifteen years ago)

i felt like playing that nin for the first time in years but i cant find my cd and its not on spotify

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, someone on this thread is bound to know this- what band other than Saxon did a song called (or prominently featuring the lyrics) "Stand up and be counted"? I get the feeling it might have been Venom...?

Neil S, Friday, 6 August 2010 17:56 (fifteen years ago)

definitely not goth
definitely not metal
no no, none of those

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

The Real Thing reminds me of a really good summer, going over my friend's house every afternoon to watch Totally Pauly on MTV, making shit in the kitchen while her mom was at work, and skating in the back yard (which was mostly concrete for some reason).

Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 August 2010 18:31 (fifteen years ago)

why were you shitting in her kitchen? Did mtv play some death metal and you just did it?
