I'm liking this album. But I love this kind of cheese.

I've never heard of Turisas, but a quick jaunt over to youtube has me saying HELL YEAH! Cheesy and gloriously so. Well done whomever voted for it.

Uh yeah, this is the kind of stuff dudes who work at Game Stop listen to in the back room while sorting out plans for WoW domination.

I don't think it will bump Korpiklaani from their cheesy humpa throne but it's still a hoot.

I'm glad I didn't find out sooner, because my dumbstruckness would've been prolonged instead of just being a new thing I'm dealing with tonight.

jj, glenn,neil s, ilxor,viceroy all thought it was the perfect solution.

it just depends on how many there are. if its a sprinkling of TBAs that will be suspenseful indeed, if its like half of the 300-100 range thats just nonsense.

I can abandon it and just post everything if people want. Doesn't bother me either way. I love it when people shout "too low" or "im glad that's out of the way"

Might I suggest posting them two at a time for while? I know I argued against that very thing in the tracks poll, but that was a top 100. In this context, it might just be nice to see the juxtaposition of things (and it would speed up the process).

I devalued 1984 on my ballot, but that album opened up a whole new world to me when it was new.

I was 1 year old when it came out.

My dad probably played it a lot during my most formative months of my life.

Like, it came out when I was 10 and my weirdo parents still wouldn't allow me to listen to anything secular (they've relaxed greatly over time). Anyway, I heard it blaring out the back of some guy's Chevy Blazer at one of my dad's company picnics and I just kind of stayed close, behind a tree, while the whole album played two times through.

Rush was arguably my primary gateway band into metal, and I'd rather see them on this list than anything grunge!

xpost: I was puzzled by Van Halen's non-performance on the Tracks poll, too. Unfashionable now, maybe, but in terms of influence on the historical course of metal, VH were as important as just about anybody short of Sabbath. And I say that as somebody who has never bought or even downloaded a single Van Halen song.

Thin Lizzy were robbed on Tracks, too. "Black Rose"! It's enough to almost make me wish I'd voted.

Paranoid > Master of Reality > Black Sabbath > Vol. IV is how I'd rank them.

Nah, I briefly haunted ILX in the early 00s then wandered off for more than a decade. Besides, I wasn't really into metal at the time.

Fairly different from my ballot if I'd have to come up with one now (in part because I don't really get stoner metal) but, as with the all-time poll, and at the risk of sounding like a purist, at least it's mostly metal metal and not just variegated shades of heavy.

I do wonder whether people care as much about Isis these days. They definitely acted as a stepping stone for me.
