it is illegal to disapprove of that track tbh - it is mighty in every way

let it sb (acoleuthic), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:04 (fifteen years ago)

You guys just live in an entirely different world from me.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:05 (fifteen years ago)

we didn't give up on metal 20 years ago though! You should try listening to stuff since then, you might find stuff you like.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:09 (fifteen years ago)

I just found a band I like last year, Mantic Ritual. But that's only because they sound like Exodus in 1986.

Oh I wonder how Death Penalty will do!

I got my black gloves on (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:22 (fifteen years ago)

this album rules too though

I got my black gloves on (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:22 (fifteen years ago)

I'm not summarizing these in list form btw. Not mad, honest. I just don't want to be chained to keeping up with this thread all the way through.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:23 (fifteen years ago)

that album-cover is pretty fucking funny (well, as pretty fucking funny as 'kinda rapey' gets)

let it sb (acoleuthic), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:25 (fifteen years ago)

aww johnny, your lack of presence here will suck.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:27 (fifteen years ago)

I'll peep in with some regularity.

My lack of presence here will suck (Johnny Fever), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:30 (fifteen years ago)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:34 (fifteen years ago)

so that means a few more albums certainly!

I got my black gloves on (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:35 (fifteen years ago)

Just because I'm sure you'd want to know, so far it's one album I like, one I kind of like, one I've never heard and one I absolutely do not like at all. You can guess which is which.

My lack of presence here will suck (Johnny Fever), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:37 (fifteen years ago)

Johnny, you wouldn't like Monarch. Or, if you did, I'd be really surprised. So chalk that up as two in the last column.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 6 August 2010 01:41 (fifteen years ago)

I'm liking this album. But I love this kind of cheese.

I got my black gloves on (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:42 (fifteen years ago)

I've never heard of Turisas, but a quick jaunt over to youtube has me saying HELL YEAH! Cheesy and gloriously so. Well done whomever voted for it.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 6 August 2010 01:44 (fifteen years ago)

Uh yeah, this is the kind of stuff dudes who work at Game Stop listen to in the back room while sorting out plans for WoW domination.

My lack of presence here will suck (Johnny Fever), Friday, 6 August 2010 01:47 (fifteen years ago)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:23 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, now you can feel free to explain...

Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 August 2010 02:25 (fifteen years ago)

This is slower than Sunn, ye Gods!

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:26 (fifteen years ago)

I don't post albums by big bands that you might have thought could possibly grace a top 100. These albums wont be announced until the end to preserve your suspense.

I'm glad I didn't find out sooner, because my dumbstruckness would've been prolonged instead of just being a new thing I'm dealing with tonight.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 August 2010 02:29 (fifteen years ago)

jj, glenn, neil s, ilxor, viceroy all thought it was the perfect solution.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:31 (fifteen years ago)

it just depends on how many there are. if its a sprinkling of TBAs that will be suspenseful indeed, if its like half of the 300-100 range thats just nonsense.

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:32 (fifteen years ago)

I can abandon it and just post everything if people want. Doesn't bother me either way. I love it when people shout "too low" or "im glad that's out of the way"

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:33 (fifteen years ago)

the next one is a big band/album

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:33 (fifteen years ago)

I vote for abandoning it, because I honestly can't see myself caring much what #294 was when this thing is all over.

Johnny Fever, Friday, 6 August 2010 02:36 (fifteen years ago)

yeah i have to agree

Without warning, a wizard walks by. (Viceroy), Friday, 6 August 2010 02:37 (fifteen years ago)

You're going to have to abandon it after about 150, at any rate, otherwise you'll be skipping more than you'll be listing.

۩, Wednesday, 28 May 2014 01:08 (twelve years ago)

good results. weird results. hard to believe that more people genuinely like some unlistenable fucking khanate record more than ace of spades or jailbreak, but poll results are always mystifying, ime. were jesus lizard excluded on princple?

riot grillz (contenderizer), Wednesday, 28 May 2014 12:08 (twelve years ago)

I was kind of expecting Cynic (Focus at least) and Ved Buens Ende to show up. Most of these bands just aren't really my thing but the only selections I actually balked at were MSP. I did, however, spend last night re-acquainting myself with the first three Ulverses because of this.

oh and xxxpost by 'parochial metalhead' I mean anyone who has an absurdly narrow view of what good and/or true metal is. That for me includes anyone who dismisses anything outside their personal preferences, or anything past 1989, or even purist black metal dullards etc.

ultros ultros-ghali, Wednesday, 28 May 2014 12:57 (twelve years ago)

i dismiss khanate, but am right to do so

riot grillz (contenderizer), Wednesday, 28 May 2014 13:09 (twelve years ago)

silly contenderizer

۩, Wednesday, 28 May 2014 15:47 (twelve years ago)

Also I doubt jesus lizard think of themselves as heavy rock or metal.

۩, Wednesday, 28 May 2014 15:49 (twelve years ago)

just re-reading bits of the thread and I'm surprised so many ilxors were stuck in the 70s or 80s

۩, Wednesday, 28 May 2014 20:34 (twelve years ago)

if jesus lizard can listen to "the art of self defense" and not think of themselves as heavy rock, then, well ... they can't, so it doesn't matter

nice to see that bullhead did so well for itself

I can't believe I never listened to Sarcofago's "Laws of Scourge" before today. three songs in and I'm going gaga over the riff salad.

always liked I.N.R.I. a lot but man this is top quality stuff.

Paranoid is still best imo.

North America = Master Of Reality

vol iv pretty easily the worst of the first four imo

american bradass (BradNelson), Monday, 21 October 2019 20:50 (six years ago)

i guess it's possible for an entire country to be wrong

american bradass (BradNelson), Monday, 21 October 2019 20:51 (six years ago)

Very much agree.

pomenitul, Monday, 21 October 2019 20:51 (six years ago)

pomenitul, Monday, 21 October 2019 20:58 (six years ago)

oh ok, well have a look at the thread then. let me know there what you think of the results

Vote (with a bullet) (Oor Neechy), Monday, 21 October 2019 21:00 (six years ago)

Fairly different from my ballot if I'd have to come up with one now (in part because I don't really get stoner metal) but, as with the all-time poll, and at the risk of sounding like a purist, at least it's mostly metal metal and not just variegated shades of heavy.

pomenitul, Monday, 21 October 2019 21:02 (six years ago)

I do wonder whether people care as much about Isis these days. They definitely acted as a stepping stone for me.
