eh idk, that definitely wasnt how my ballot worked, but i know theres some stuff in my top 10 that might look like that from a certain perspective, but i was dead serious about it being a trackworthy alltime number idk 8 or whatever.

xpost to JF

My ballot was done in all honesty, thinking in "tracks/singles/songs I love" mode, not trying to get certain artists higher placed or whatever. Metallica fans are starting to just piss me off now.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:35 (fifteen years ago)

You cant fuck with these metallica tracks placing (so far at least)
they would grace any metal list.
It's funny though that ppl complain there's too much by x bands but then everytime a Sabbath track places a whole chorus of "too low!" goes up!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:37 (fifteen years ago)

that's cuz Sabbath rule

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:38 (fifteen years ago)

I'd still be happy if my #1 song (a Metallica song) were to place, although I don't hold out much hope.

17 Led Zeppelin · When the Levee Breaks (1971) (569 points · 12 votes - 1 number one vote)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbrjRKB586s

Pretty sure this is the highest placing "Song stolen from Memphis Minnie and then vaguely repurposed by a bunch of pasty english white dudes" song in the poll.

Of course thats mostly because there weren't any Rolling Stones noms I suppose.

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:39 (fifteen years ago)

The drum sample that made the Beastie Boys famous and served as the backbone for about 20,000 other good to great songs.

Amazing recent performance of Creeping Death in Korea:

I get the shivers when the obviously ecstatic crowd start singing along with the closing riff. They've still got it live.

How to do Youtube links without embed?

rhythm fixated member (chap), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:51 (fifteen years ago)

You can do it with BBCode, or people can just copy and paste.

Trujillo's crab stance makes him look like a dumbass.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

xp he was asking how to post a link W/O embedding the video.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

Yeah, thought there was a no embedding policy on these threads (except for from the runners, obv).

rhythm fixated member (chap), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:54 (fifteen years ago)

Metallica, progenitors of crabcore. You heard it here first.

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:55 (fifteen years ago)

oh i see. never mind me then.

SAUSAGE LIVES ON IN MY HEART (and much of my gi tract prob) (jjjusten), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:55 (fifteen years ago)

It's like the opposite (but every bit as annoying) as the dude from Dave Matthews Band who lets his bass sit right around his sternum.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:56 (fifteen years ago)

well there goes my top 10 predictions...Levee didn't even make top 20...

demons a. real (Drugs A. Money), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:57 (fifteen years ago)

Levee is #17.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:58 (fifteen years ago)

Don't point that out - it's his (or her) birthday!

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 5 August 2010 17:59 (fifteen years ago)

next one is actually a tie, so i'll post both, henry, then you resume as planned

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

I think Trujillo's wacky stage antics are just what Metallica need at this stage in the game.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:00 (fifteen years ago)

I thought Levee would be the top Zep track - 'twas my #2

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

I'd expect "Immigrant Song" to be higher.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:01 (fifteen years ago)

STAIRWAY YOU FOOLS!

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:02 (fifteen years ago)

I actually had a long period of hating Stairway, but now I'm back around to thinking it's heaven's gift to my ears.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:02 (fifteen years ago)

I also thought 'Paranoid' would take the whole thing

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:03 (fifteen years ago)

I don't like anything on the first side of IV and never have. Yes, I know that makes me weird.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

'Stairway''s the type of track that places #11 in ilm polls

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

Hoping Misty Mountain Hop makes it in

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

xxxp Me too. ^

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

My #1 is still alive.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

So is mine, but since my #1 is "Nobody's Fool," I gave up on seeing it about 60 spots ago.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:05 (fifteen years ago)

Mine too. I'm hopeful

TIE FOR 15 Iggy and the Stooges · Search and Destroy (1973) (576 votes · 15 voters - 1 number one vote)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDNzQ3CXspU

The falseness, it is staggering.

There is an old dog proverb which says "If a man cover his body in peanut butter, beware him, for his intentions are not good."

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:08 (fifteen years ago)

Whither Supernaut...

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:09 (fifteen years ago)

Oh well, there's my #1 now

Ismael Klata, Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

But Henry, he wants to be YOUR dog.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

Ridiculous nonsense. His name is Iggy POP, eh?! not Iggy Metal... should be a clue right there folks.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:11 (fifteen years ago)

I voted for "Search..." I believe.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

This might as well be some Velvet Underground track...

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:12 (fifteen years ago)

Wow, that song sounds twice as mean in youtube quality audio.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:13 (fifteen years ago)

This might as well be some Velvet Underground track...

^really???

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:14 (fifteen years ago)

its about that level of "hard" and "heavy"

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:14 (fifteen years ago)

meaning, pretty weak.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:15 (fifteen years ago)

I'm betting (hoping?) that was really dry sarcasm.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:15 (fifteen years ago)

Ok, I guess not.

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:15 (fifteen years ago)

You've actually HEARD the Velvet Underground, yes?

Johnelle Fevráe (Johnny Fever), Thursday, 5 August 2010 18:16 (fifteen years ago)
