Eh, there's a shittier band with THREE SONGS still to come!

The absence of women from this poll is glaring even compared to normal metal proportions. None in the top 100 so far, and I won't spoil the suspense, but there aren't a lot of them still to come...

glenn mcdonald, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:44 (fifteen years ago)

Up next a SHOCKING ENTRANT

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:45 (fifteen years ago)

I voted Wendy O. Willams really high on my ballot to compensate for this, but I don't know that she'll be one of the women accounted for.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:46 (fifteen years ago)

cant force anyone to vote
xp

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:46 (fifteen years ago)

More thrash and death please. Much of this is a bit slow and sludgy for me.

rhythm fixated member (chap), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:46 (fifteen years ago)

its not like all the voters are female mind you, i counted more than in the EOY polls, but again, i cant force males or females to vote.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:47 (fifteen years ago)

No one's talking about voters. We were talking about bands with females!

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:48 (fifteen years ago)

i cant force people to vote for anything either! I tried to get as many peole voting as i can without hassling anyone. What can I do?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:49 (fifteen years ago)

Anyway most stuff in the top 100 are radio hits, so blame the popists!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:50 (fifteen years ago)

I voted for a fair few women, as far as I recall (including one song which may well fall into the 'guilty pleasure' category, even though I think it is actually awesome). I suspect they're all unlikely to chart.

Will leave commenting on the stuff that's come in until tomorrow when I shall resume my youtubing. Some good tracks, though. (Also, I haven't heard that Rush song! Sorry Henry.)

emil.y, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:50 (fifteen years ago)

I mean, no one would argue that metal is one of the most male-dominated genres of music (right up there with rap), but there's been ZERO women. Sad, sad, sad.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:51 (fifteen years ago)

37 Black Sabbath · War Pigs (1970) (points 451 · 12 voters)

Eventually you run out of jokes about Black Sabbath. His kids are fat and this song is about pigs. Sigh.

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:53 (fifteen years ago)

emil.y, you and henry have been the best posters on the thread (no offence to anyone, apart from you rush savages ;) )

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:53 (fifteen years ago)

hey henry

pies. (gbx), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:54 (fifteen years ago)

Way to embrace the few of us who are actually following along!

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:55 (fifteen years ago)

please dont go all tuomas & co on us, like i said, i cant help the results. We just need others to vote. Albums poll will be a bit different to this top 100. But i cant promise less dudes.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:56 (fifteen years ago)

Flattery will get you nowhere. Steak or gtfo. xposts

Henry Kvlt Pvp, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:56 (fifteen years ago)

what if i scratch yr ears

pies. (gbx), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:57 (fifteen years ago)

I sent steak for you to your owner, didn't he give it to you? The post office said he signed for it.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

No, I'm just taking offense to you awarding one human and one dog most favored contributor status in a thread, making the rest of us feel like garbage. Classy.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:58 (fifteen years ago)

Ha, I'm not sure the TRU METAL DUDES would necessarily agree with your opinion, Herman. But I've been enjoying myself a lot, and listening to a bunch of stuff that I wouldn't usually do.

xposts (I'm sure he was only joking, JF)

emil.y, Wednesday, 4 August 2010 23:59 (fifteen years ago)

emil.y otm

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:00 (fifteen years ago)

Anyway, "War Pigs" was one of the two Sabbath tracks I voted for. I have no doubt the other one will be in the top 20 at least.

xp I know. I am universally loved in ILM poll world!!! (saw your email, it's cool.)

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:04 (fifteen years ago)

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:07 (fifteen years ago)

Probably, if it starts with P and ends with a D.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:21 (fifteen years ago)

I just realized it would be hilarious if Jethro Tull beat Metallica in the albums poll.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:26 (fifteen years ago)

GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU!

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:27 (fifteen years ago)

i thought it would be too low for you

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:29 (fifteen years ago)

I thought Children of the Grave was way too low, this I think is appropriately placed.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:33 (fifteen years ago)

Another one I voted for coming up

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:39 (fifteen years ago)

35.
Soundgarden - Jesus Christ Pose (1991) (455 Points, 11 votes - TWO #1's

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umHoQBZeXJQ

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:39 (fifteen years ago)

Soundgarden songs are getting ranked in these results completely opposite of my own personal preference.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:43 (fifteen years ago)

henry say hi to me

pies. (gbx), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:44 (fifteen years ago)

Let's zip out 4 more tonight so you can do the top 30 tomorrow.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:56 (fifteen years ago)

OK!

Time for a Hawkwind worshipping band (again)

My favourite song by this band. God, their early run of albums was amazing. (i do like power trip and the one after too, but i can see why other old fans dont) but i love this song so much.)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:58 (fifteen years ago)

34
Monster Magnet - Negasonic Teenage Warhead (1995) (459 Points, 13 votes)

"It's a Satanic Drug Thing, You Wouldn't Understand."

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 00:59 (fifteen years ago)

oh and to answer emil.y from earlier, i've never smoked anything or taken a recreational drug in my life (and yes i love stoner rock/metal)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:00 (fifteen years ago)

Again, I find it weird that anything by Monster Magnet would be one of someone's ALL TIME favorite hard rock songs...but I guess a lot of factors go into why we like what we like.

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:02 (fifteen years ago)

maybe because it's a song in one of my fave genres, that i was big into when it came out. Like Rush is for the over 40s and others into 80s hair metal.
Plus i guess not everyones into the canon even in metal? (tho i am)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:06 (fifteen years ago)

when i saw MM co-headling with Qotsa, i was jumping about like a maddy during this song (even more than usual)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:06 (fifteen years ago)

Hey, I'm not over 40 yet! I'm only 36. :P

Johnny Fever, Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:10 (fifteen years ago)

I'm 37, but i didn't really discover non chart rock/pop til i was 18 and nirvana broke. (like a lot of people, Nirvana was a gate way to Metal and/or Indie)

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:12 (fifteen years ago)

I hated the late 80s hair metal fluff one of my mates was into, but thrash & death was too heavy for me. When i heard slower doomier stuff i got sucked in.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:13 (fifteen years ago)

Monster Magnet was awesome at one point - truly great, and this song is part of that era.

Green Manalishi (Viceroy), Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:16 (fifteen years ago)

next song is by one of my fave bands, which came from one of my other fave bands, i voted for 3 tracks by this band, but not this one , it got cut.. What the hell do I know what will place high!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Thursday, 5 August 2010 01:22 (fifteen years ago)

33.
Queens of the Stone Age - Avon (1998) (460 Points, 12 votes - ONE #1 vote)
