yeah that is true -- the whole talking about point about ross's extravagant beats is really more pertinent to the last album

teflon don is better in part because there are joints like "mc hammer" an "bmf" and the opener to balance everything out

i wouldn't necessarily call "BMF" at street hit in the sense that it's a rick ross song... there was always some level of built in advantages -- it's certainly not on the same wavelength in that regard as "o let's do it" or "wasted" or any dance snap thing

really i think it served more of a purpose of reminding ross's people that no one really wants to hear him doing shit like "super high" or "magnificent" -- people still want "hustlin" type joints from him (exception being the one w/ nelly that was a hit)

It was "Super High" that sold this for me though.

yeah Ross is weird, came into the game with a dark anthemic banger, even his T-Pain joint wasn't very R&B, but then suddenly he decides every song needs some soft hands soul singer on the hook.

Not to take anything away from him, because he's put out some very good albums, but how much of Rick Ross' appeal is that he's filling the void left behind by Biggie? It's a comparison Ross seems to court more aggressively than ever on Teflon Don, which is peppered with Biggie references.

It's not just a physical comparison; though. His halting, booming flow seems to get more Biggie-esque with each album, and he (and his guests) make several explicit references to Biggie on Teflon Don. It seems to be a comparison that he actively courts.

he's also an ex-corrections officer turned major label rapper who is actively courting a comparison to one of the most notorious cocaine dealers in recent history, so you know...

feel like I'm late to the party on this one. I avoided it for a while cuz his guest verses on albums I owned never wowed me.

This album hasn't like made me outright jizz my pants or anything but I'm liking it. lyrics aren't amazing but the beats are pretty awesome, he has good guests, and I like his delivery. I'll definitely play this one though I can see how some might not like this dude.
