THANK YOU

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:23 (fifteen years ago)

Now I've become one of those guys I was bitching about before, but "Motorcycle Emptiness" shouldn't be within 10 miles of this countdown. FALSE SHIT.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:25 (fifteen years ago)

SECONDED

Don't look now boys, The Wonder Stuff will be just around the corner.

kkvgz, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:28 (fifteen years ago)

Self-harming has no place in metal.

Holy Bible is a heavier, more abrasive record than anything GNR ever did, regardless of what you think of the comparative merits of the 2 bands.

Neil S, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:30 (fifteen years ago)

If I'd voted this would be like 500x troo-er

Self-harming has no place in metal.

Depends how you define "self-harming"!

YES!

I just went and listened a couple singles from The Holy Bible and, fair enough, they rock (way more than goddamn "Motorcycle Emptiness" anyway), but Appetite For Destruction shits all over those songs from a great height as far as heaviness and abrasiveness is concerned. I don't think those guys even took a shower between November 1987 and March 1989.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:36 (fifteen years ago)

I love GNR too, but IMO Holy Bible is up there with Joy Division's Closer- but then it came out when I was 15, so I was a sucker for it.

Comparisons aside, I don't think there's much doubt that the MAnics are a hard rock band, and with caveats, one of the best BRitish ones of the last 20 years, again IMO.

Neil S, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:40 (fifteen years ago)

" one of the best BRitish ones of the last 20 years, again IMO"

hasnt exactly been a British specialty during that time, has it?

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:42 (fifteen years ago)

and that's not a knock against my british brothers, because i think you guys have historically kicked ass.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:43 (fifteen years ago)

Herm, let's end this nonsense, keep rolling out the jams.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:44 (fifteen years ago)

Comparisons aside, I don't think there's much doubt that the MAnics are a hard rock band,

Well, I'm no expert, but I doubt it ... but I hate that fucking band so I'm biased

tom d: he did what he had to do now he is dead (Tom D.), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:44 (fifteen years ago)

xxp that's a fair point, but hardly the Manics's fault! And yes, on with the poll!

Neil S, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:45 (fifteen years ago)

Back to the topic at hand, I've never heard Manilla Road before, but that guy sings like one of the seven dwarves.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:48 (fifteen years ago)

so far the only song I voted for is "Mother," which I danced to at my wedding (my mother is a fan). voted for a different Soundgarden and 4 different GNR songs.

The chickbad from the ludicrous 'ludacris' song (some dude), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:49 (fifteen years ago)

ok an alltimefuckingclassic coming up.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:57 (fifteen years ago)

anyone who doesn't like this is a falser.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:57 (fifteen years ago)

so far, every time you say that, it's something i'm not into at all...

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 13:58 (fifteen years ago)

please say it's this

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:00 (fifteen years ago)

Okay, we're good. Angel Witch is our common ground, apparently.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:01 (fifteen years ago)

Where did all the falsers go?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:07 (fifteen years ago)

i wonder if any of the rolling metal thread regulars are even following the results.

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:15 (fifteen years ago)

I really think "Ace of Spades" is gonna win. Or maybe "Enter Sandman."

ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)

Fucking hell I hope ksh didn't vote so that "Ace of Spades" will win.

ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:16 (fifteen years ago)

If Enter Sandman wins, i quit.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:17 (fifteen years ago)

I'd rather Mister Sandman win.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:18 (fifteen years ago)

Over Ace of Spades? or overy everything?

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:19 (fifteen years ago)

If "Smells Like Teen Spirit" or "Enter Sandman" wins we should snap all of ksh's CDs in half.

ilxor has truly been got at and become an ILXor (ilxor), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:22 (fifteen years ago)

No, just over Enter Sandman. xp

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:22 (fifteen years ago)

ksh is gonna be sweating til results are done on friday!

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:23 (fifteen years ago)

Bill which is falser Smells Like Teen Spirit or Enter Sandman ?

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:24 (fifteen years ago)

Does ksh even own cds? We're gonna have to dump hyrdochloric acid on an ipod more likely.

Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:24 (fifteen years ago)

Ace Of Spades would have to be the frontrunner for top track.

kornrulez6969, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:27 (fifteen years ago)

He started buying them again.
xp

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:27 (fifteen years ago)

Think Stairway... or Paranoid are both in with a shout too...

Neil S, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:30 (fifteen years ago)

Bill's head exploded trying to work out which song is falser btw

pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:33 (fifteen years ago)

Guessing Master of Puppets and/or For Whom the Bell Tolls will beat Enter Sandman in this crowd.

kkvgz, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:33 (fifteen years ago)

(at the very least!)

kkvgz, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:34 (fifteen years ago)

I voted for all 3 (sorry), and Master... and ...Bell Tolls were both above Enter Sandman.

Neil S, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:35 (fifteen years ago)

"Enter Sandman" is a cock

Mayor Hickenlooper and the liberal agenda (HI DERE), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:35 (fifteen years ago)

Enter Sandman is a pretty decent Megadeth song.

kkvgz, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:36 (fifteen years ago)

Can only blame it being all over MTV the first time I went to the US.

Neil S, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:37 (fifteen years ago)

"Bill which is falser Smells Like Teen Spirit or Enter Sandman ?"

Oh, god, SLTS by a mile.

Chicago to Philadelphia: "Suck It" (Bill Magill), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 14:41 (fifteen years ago)

so I've asked this like a bazillion times but WHAT IS METAL?
