Revenge of the early 90s!
Why are you posting ties simultaneously?
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 09:56 (fifteen years ago)
I mean, it's still a list of 100 songs and each song deserves its own moment in the sun.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 09:57 (fifteen years ago)
because we have to get through to #61 tonight (at a decent time so euros can see it).Cant leave all the work to poor henry!
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 09:59 (fifteen years ago)
but OK, i'll post ties 5 mins apart should we get anymore.
Albumist! ;)
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:00 (fifteen years ago)
(also, adding the year to these might not be a bad idea, considering it's an ALL-TIME poll.)
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:01 (fifteen years ago)
you want jam with that? ;)
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:03 (fifteen years ago)
Both of those are from 1992 btw. Will get john to add the years later using his mod powers.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:05 (fifteen years ago)
Having the years would be ace, actually.
I did consider voting for 'Midlife Crisis', but then thought it was too much down to nostalgia and not enough a genuine critical appraisal of the song, so left it off.
― emil.y, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:06 (fifteen years ago)
Rusty Cage is from 1991, fwiw.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:07 (fifteen years ago)
ahh, it came out in the UK as a single in 92.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:08 (fifteen years ago)
I gave 'Midlife Crisis' fewer points than it deserves - great track.
― Ismael Klata, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:09 (fifteen years ago)
I'll post years as long as emil.y promises to watch every youtube!
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:13 (fifteen years ago)
Hm, I'll have to switch computers, but okay.
― emil.y, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:17 (fifteen years ago)
Anyway, yeah. Midlife Crisis was a song I wasn't expecting from Faith No More back in 1992. I remember sitting on my sofa kind of dumbstruck after it premiered on MTV. It didn't take long to love it, but I was in no way sure at first. Rusty Cage, otoh, being the opening track on Badmotorfinger, was different from previous Soundgarden tracks in an OH MY FUCKING GAWD kind of way. I still think Kim is way underrated as an "I can do more than just sound like Iommi" guitarist.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:23 (fifteen years ago)
yay emil.y, and when you do a Twee top 100, I promise to listen to them all too.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:29 (fifteen years ago)
Kim Thayil is a very underrated guitarist.

That's like one of the classix of all classix.

― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:36 (fifteen years ago)
Although, upon review of my ballot, I see I failed to include it. So, never mind.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:36 (fifteen years ago)

92 TIE.Ministry - Just One Fix (1992) (319 Points, 8 votes)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GhHAlBQsWhI
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:42 (fifteen years ago)
If "Just One Fix" is at 92, I'm starting to have doubts that "Burning Inside" will make it. Though I really have no gauge of who likes what on ILM where Ministry is concerned.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:44 (fifteen years ago)
this is ILM, you never know what will make or wont make it.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:53 (fifteen years ago)
who likes cover versions?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 10:58 (fifteen years ago)
because one is coming up, by one of the most important metal bands ever. But this cover surprised everyone. Most of you will know the original.Who wants to guess?
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:01 (fifteen years ago)
Metallica's cover of Green Hell?

― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:10 (fifteen years ago)
It's Bring the Noize, isn't it?
― kkvgz, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:10 (fifteen years ago)

91Celtic Frost - Mexican Radio (1987) (319 Points, 10 votes)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGpdtgeZbgk
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:18 (fifteen years ago)
I remember someone mentioning this in the noms thread. Time to hear it, I guess.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:19 (fifteen years ago)
Damn, thought it would be Motley Crue's "Anarchy in the UK."
― President Keyes, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:19 (fifteen years ago)
As a fan of the Wall of Voodoo original, and never having been a fan of Celtic Frost, this is about as bad as I imagined it might be.
― Johnny Fever, Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:21 (fifteen years ago)
Would never have guessed this would have got that many votes.
I'm going to guess now that at least one of my top ten, and specifically my #4, will not make this run down.
― Hey Jabulani! Pope of four four two. (aldo), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:25 (fifteen years ago)
Celtic Frost covered a LOT of styles and influenced lots of genres(thrash/death/black/doom/avant garde metal). You cant really pigeon hole them. Cold Lake fucking sucks though.
― pfunkboy (Herman G. Neuname), Tuesday, 3 August 2010 11:28 (fifteen years ago)
go on guys, post your top 10 guesses
This early? That's usually a top 20 kind of thing.
