In 1986, UK musician Nick Saloman was urged to abandon his new band name, "The Butt-Head Frond," as it was deemed distasteful. So he settled on a second choice – "The Butt-Head Fern." The project was nearly lost to history, but Saloman changed the name once more...

Fans have long wondered why the Beach Boys titled their 1989 album _Still Cruisin'_, despite their not being a predecessor song or album titled "Cruisin'". The reason goes back to a mutual misunderstanding. The soundtrack to the 1980 William Friedkin film _Cruising_ was originally recorded by the Beach Boys. Friedkin had heard their disco version of "Here Comes the Night" and thought the band's current sound would be perfect for his film about, set in the world of gay S&M bars. For their part, the Beach Boys thought the film was a car movie. It was only when the Beach Boys delivered their completed soundtrack that the nature of the misunderstanding became clear. The album wound up being released as _Keepin' the Summer Alive_.

during the '90s, samuel beckett and franz kafka would get together on friday nights to drink pernod while watching re-runs of "the prisoner" and playing each other tape cassettes of tunes they had recorded off the radio. beckett was quite excited about nick cave and the bad seeds' "deanna". kafka was more reserved in his appraisal "they should have done one about beverly crusher" he complained.

cave had indeed intended to honour gates mcfadden and other cast members of "star trek: the next generation" in song, but this was vetoed by blixa bargeld, who had grown increasingly bitter about failing his audition for the part of "wesley crusher" by ending every line of dialogue with an inward scream. bargeld also secretly auditioned for the parts of "neelix" and "constable odo", which he failed for the same reason. adding to bargeld's feelings of inadequacy, lux interior would often taunt him, having been successfully cast as "ghost pizza#3", "medieval astronaut", and "irish peasant" in the franchise throughout the years. mick harvey has has gone some way to distance himself from his trek- loving colleagues and has gone on record calling them all "a bunch of wankers"

As a young adult, Kayleigh Rose Amstutz (aka Chappell Roan) spent a balmy August at a performing and songwriting summer camp in Branson Missouri. As a result, she has a lifelong misunderstanding of the phase 'camp' and how it applies to her musical oeuvre.Whenever the adjective camp is applied to her output, she assumes people are talking about the similarity to her performances at summer camp and will readily agree. This has caused a few misunderstandings but as both are tonally similar, not as many as you would think.

In Thin Lizzy's hit song "The Boys are Back in Town," the town in question is Boise, Idaho. The original lyric was "the boys are back in Boise."
Which is odd because none of the Irishmen had ever been to Boise at the time of the song's composition.

Carly Simon spent 1971 obsessively playtesting Atari's upcoming arcade smash Pong, and in her downtime was inspired to write the song You're So Vain, including the withering line "I bet you think that Pong is about you". Simon later reluctantly replaced this line with a confusingly self-referential alternate lyric after risk-averse creator Allan Alcorn reached out to advise her that there were no circumstances in which Pong could ever be about anything.
