Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

For crying out loud.

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 14:00 (twenty-two years ago)

and im only a 1/2 hour away from providence, and can easily administer an ass kicking. ;)

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 17:12 (twenty-two years ago)

Chris V. (Chris V), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 18:15 (twenty-two years ago)

and mine's here...

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 18:18 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not that impressed by its ability to monitor my listening behaviour though...at least half of what I'm playing doesn't get registered. Or does it only work when you let the song play till the end? (I hardly ever listen to those last 1-2 minutes of dance singles which are usually just there for easy mixing)

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 18:23 (twenty-two years ago)

yeh you have to listen to at least 50% of the track for it to register

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 18:29 (twenty-two years ago)

it also sometimes takes a while to update

stevem (blueski), Wednesday, 18 June 2003 18:30 (twenty-two years ago)

it only registers stuff that has a non-null "Artist" field.

Anybody else using Last.FM? I think this is the best music realated thing I've discovered in years -- this is only slightly to do with it getting through the firewall at work!. I hope it continues to work

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 19 June 2003 09:49 (twenty-two years ago)

What is it Alan?

It registers null artist stuff as "Unknown" on my account.

Tico Tico (Tico Tico), Thursday, 19 June 2003 09:51 (twenty-two years ago)

There's a link on the main audioscrobbler page from the creator, it's on http://www.last.fm/ just go and have a look. I am using the flash-based player on my desktop. I've only just found out about this thanks to this thread which i clicked on yesterday.

Alan (Alan), Thursday, 19 June 2003 10:05 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
I see they are now accepting new users. Is it worth signing up?

Rambo, Tuesday, 5 October 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

i like it a lot. it's been going through some hardware problems in the past month, but it seems to be working pretty well right now.

and the linking is better than it was a year ago:

I created an ilXor audioscrobbler group if anyone else wants to join it.

I have joined James's ILX Audioscrobbler group but I don't really understand what it does. Can we use it to create a last.fm radio station?

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:02 (twenty-one years ago)

http://www.audioscrobbler.com/user/robotn1k/

Been on it a good 6 months I guess now, pretty decent site, but it's not turning up anything I wasn't aware of already.

MattR (MattR), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:14 (twenty-one years ago)

I think so, Alba. Also it will track what all of us are listening to, creating an ILX Chart of sorts (which will only really be fun if enough people join).

Sanjay McDougal (jaymc), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:21 (twenty-one years ago)

creating an ILX Chart of sorts

We have seven members currently. We need ten for the last.fm radio station bit to work.

Come on all! Join http://www.audioscrobbler.com/group/ilXor

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:30 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm now listening to Gareth's personal radio station. I have a feeling his currently listening habits are so outré that the Butthole Surfers will be the only thing last.fm have the licence to play.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 17:32 (twenty-one years ago)

last.fm is so exciting though - there's a surprising amount of stuff they've got for streaming, and you can basically just sit there and listen to someone else's records for a while, or a group of people's. I am looking forward to the ilxor station 'launching'.

(just to explain - it's linked to your audioscrobbler stats, though you can add your collection manually if you like too)

That's Gareth's work.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Woo! We now have 11 members so the last.fm ILX radio is off the ground. First track? Bob Mould - 'First Drag Of The Day'. Hmmm.

Alba (Alba), Monday, 22 November 2004 20:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i am now in the group as immobilisme

Lot's of people on bands are on there. Apart from maybe Lars Ulrich.

I left a critical comment in the shoutbox for Air Liquide, and one of them ("Dr-W") actually answered to it:

http://www.last.fm/music/Air+Liquide

Now I feel a bit embarrassed...

Matt P what's it to you anyway? And why so aggro?

Neil S, Wednesday, 31 December 2008 14:22 (seventeen years ago)

and why is onimo joining in

Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Wednesday, 31 December 2008 14:35 (seventeen years ago)

obsessively documenting everything that happens wrt your private last.fm profile on a public forum is creepy imo. and i wasn't being aggro, it was just a question!

matt p (Matt P), Thursday, 1 January 2009 00:43 (seventeen years ago)

creepy isn't the right word, sorry. just confusing. and i'm really just wondering why in all honesty.

matt p (Matt P), Thursday, 1 January 2009 00:45 (seventeen years ago)

tellemwhyyoumad

The Reverend, Thursday, 1 January 2009 10:16 (seventeen years ago)

last.fm profiles aren't private, that's kind of the point.

Neil S, Thursday, 1 January 2009 12:14 (seventeen years ago)

yeah profiles aren't private, but people coming to and from your own profile are. imagine blogging about everyone who visited your facebook account and their fucking status updates? like 300 x in a row.

matt p (Matt P), Thursday, 1 January 2009 12:28 (seventeen years ago)

i mean how can you justify listing everyone's taste match to your own as they come and go, comment about their library, wonder about their friends, etc., hour in and hour out, without that becoming well CREEPY?

matt p (Matt P), Thursday, 1 January 2009 12:30 (seventeen years ago)

you know what, creepy isn't the right word. i think what i'm looking for here is 'intrusive.'

matt p (Matt P), Thursday, 1 January 2009 12:33 (seventeen years ago)

say herman g. neuname went on for four posts about some guy, say 'struggin,' who: visited his last.fm profile, received a "very low" compatibility rating with "insane clown posse, iron and wine, beyonce, trae" as exceptions, added him as a friend, left an unsavory comment, decided his shitty metal ass wasn't worth it, defriended him.

fun times. and then 'struggin' googles himself and finds herman g. neuname talking shit about him or being funny or whatever on a public board that has nothing to do with last.fm and had no real right to post that info in the first place.

herman g. neuname why exactly are you doing this?

matt p (Matt P), Thursday, 1 January 2009 12:41 (seventeen years ago)

is that aggro enuff for you neil s? (you little bitch)

matt p (Matt P), Thursday, 1 January 2009 12:42 (seventeen years ago)

oh fuck off

Neil S, Thursday, 1 January 2009 13:49 (seventeen years ago)

And coming from you accusations of shit talking seem just a little bit hypocritical, since that's all you've done since turning up on this board.

Neil S, Thursday, 1 January 2009 14:18 (seventeen years ago)

(you little bitch)

can i just say hearing this in sotto voce is hilarious
