He OUGHT to be beat up for listening to Gucci Mane, full stop.

Listening to rap while white is fine. Listening to BAD rap is unforgivable for any race.

this song is amazing

so on mr. zone 6 i think its not really quite on the high water mark of the first & 3rd movie mixtapes. imho. Aside from "long money" a lot of it is missing some of the weirder mutant pop moments from like ... 'im a star' or 'my shadow'. where u have bachelor pad up against you know what it is ('im in miami in a wife beater feelin the breeze, a wife beater but im unmarried, lookin for skeez...'

hes def aiming for a more lyrical vibe w/ this record which i think is important but can also be kinda dry

i feel like that's a valid criticism for your specific taste -- personally, "i'm a star" and "my shadow" were never two of my favorite joints

but you and i talked about this a few months back when we were talking about "wonderful", how even tho it's crazy lyrical it might not be the 'best' example of gucci's total appeal... i still think that they lyrics are so good on 'mr. zone 6' that it doesn't really matter

i mean dont get me wrong i dont think its a fall off or anything. i just hope he keeps switching up the vibe of each individual tape

'bachelor pad' has become a sleeper fav gucci track for me recently

it's a really undelirious tape for gucci. even tho he's rapping abt the same things there's no mania or sense of fun on the level of other stuff. it's different in a way i haven't really got a handle on. maybe it's just gangster like that. it still might be one of his best tapes tho, never feels empty just dense and p cohesive.

"gucci time" is the new single, it's on his myspace, different verses/hook etc than the one that leaked a few weeks ago tho

my only real problem with it is that because of the justice sample it's a bit "on to the next one pt. 2" but that's a bit of a small quibble cuz it's not like "on to the next one" is some unassailable classic

weird that I was just thinking yesterday that gucci should sample/reference "gucci time"

yeah these are technically very accomplished, but like some peeps up thread i'm kinda bummed that the sense of weird--and to some extent the sense of fun--is kinda disappearing. that element was always the most exciting for me (and why something like "i might pull up on a zebra" is the standout from gucci time). these just all sound very sober. he needs to start smoking some weed again or something.

i've been really high on mr. zone 6 even though i don't necessarily disagree with deej's assessment, possibly because irl i often find myself around people who dont take gucci seriously as a lyricist and if i ever end up in that argument then i can just point to this tape as exhibit a. but also because dry by gucci's standard is still extremely entertaining
