yeah this feels pale compared to the orig which is unstoppable
― plax (ico), Wednesday, 28 July 2010 10:17 (fifteen years ago)
tho that youtube rip cant be helping, maybe its a different story on a floor but i havent heard
That Azari & III remix is only notable for the 'OMG! The Power!' factor, otherwise I prefer the original.
Think we should stop overhyping Tensnake now in case we end up anticipating his album for 18 months and it turns out to be terrible. Still feeling Aeroplane burn.
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 28 July 2010 10:21 (fifteen years ago)
more interested in anticipating an azari and iii album
― plax (ico), Wednesday, 28 July 2010 10:22 (fifteen years ago)
Dunno, everything I've heard apart from Reckless hasn't been all that...
― Matt DC, Wednesday, 28 July 2010 10:23 (fifteen years ago)
not even hungry for the power?
― plax (ico), Wednesday, 28 July 2010 10:27 (fifteen years ago)
but yeah their remixes are not too interesting to me
― plax (ico), Wednesday, 28 July 2010 10:28 (fifteen years ago)
Hungry for the Power EP has She's An Illusion and Manhooker which are both great!

― max, Thursday, 29 July 2010 06:32 (fifteen years ago)
i saw azari & iii dj the other night ... nowhere near as good as classixx - theyre def not great DJs - but they were playing really good songs. just not really reading the room or getting a sense of how to keep energy flow->ebbing u know?
& yeah i like a lot of those songs ok but nothing is really touching 'reckless'

Ooooh.
UK house establishment Defected Records have announced details for their next In The House compilation, mixed this time by Hamburg-based producer Marco Niemerski, better known as Tensnake.
Niemerski has been putting out records since 2006, but saw his stock rise dramatically this year with the release of "Coma Cat," a steel-drum laden house jam that's undoubtedly one of 2010's most played club records. His sound often lies somewhere between cosmic disco and sunny house—a style that, based on the tracklist, dominates his new mix for Defected. Along with a few of his own productions, Tensnake In The House features party-friendly cuts by Armando, DJ Sneak and Tiger & Woods, plus edits and remixes by Jamie Jones and Norwegian disco dons Lindstrom and Prins Thomas. The compilation has its deeper side as well, thanks to selections by DJ Sprinkles and Basic Soul Unit, while Mount Kimbie and James Blake break up the 4/4 pulse a bit. Due out later this month, the release will mark Tensnake's first commercial mix CD.

Apparently "Coma Cat" is on Radio 1's playlist now...
― get the fuck out of my mouth (boxedjoy), Friday, 10 September 2010 20:15 (fifteen years ago)
!!!
It's slowly climbing up the charts as well, up to #98 from somewhere in the 150s last week. I wonder if it might actually become a Proper Hit.

― moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 16 September 2010 17:18 (fifteen years ago)
looks like no, forget i asked.
ratsnake >>>>> tensnake
― moonship journey to baja, Thursday, 16 September 2010 17:21 (fifteen years ago)
that paul lester thing is awful. such incredibly bad writing, on the verge of gibberish
― NI, Saturday, 18 September 2010 16:07 (fifteen years ago)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/sep/03/new-band-mighty-mouse is just as bad. outrageous to say "Maybe by the release of their own self-written album in early 2011 they'll have worked out what disco is." what an almighty wanker.
― NI, Saturday, 18 September 2010 16:09 (fifteen years ago)
the new commercial 2-disc mix he did for defected is sorta incredible. RA thought so too
that tuff city kids remix of boom city bachelors is definitely a highlight (was that in a recent aeroplane mix? it's so familiar), same goes for ending disc one with an older michael mayer track followed by the amazing l&pt remix of chemical bros (definitely also in 2 recent aeroplane-related mixes ha, but works much better here imo)
― a lagoon par la mer (psychgawsple), Wednesday, 13 October 2010 20:33 (fifteen years ago)
Haven't heard it but the tracklisting is amazing, looks like it has the potential to be one of my favourite mix albums in years.
― Matt DC, Thursday, 14 October 2010 08:42 (fifteen years ago)
the boom city bachelors remix was on the brilliant arto mwambe RA podcast - great track
― jabba hands, Thursday, 14 October 2010 11:23 (fifteen years ago)

tuff city kids is one of arto mwambe i think, plus gerd janson, if memory serves.

Xpost: that's great. I was just thinking last week that it's fair time Tensnake crossed the Atlantic. I'd love to see him.
And yes, that Boom Clap Batchelors remix is totally ace!
― The Flamoboyant Magic of Gunter and Ernst (EDB), Saturday, 16 October 2010 17:29 (fifteen years ago)
There appears to be an unmixed version doing the rounds, are most online stores selling the actual mix? I can imagine Swoon over Amanda being amazing.
― Matt DC, Friday, 22 October 2010 08:42 (fifteen years ago)
the version form iTunes and Juno has both the mixed version and the unmixed tracks
― I am using your worlds, Friday, 22 October 2010 09:07 (fifteen years ago)
So the one-track 'bonus mixes' are the full mix then?
― Matt DC, Friday, 22 October 2010 09:22 (fifteen years ago)
Yes, AFAIK, but I haven't listened to the CD to compare them.
― I am using your worlds, Saturday, 23 October 2010 19:12 (fifteen years ago)
Last minute cancellation last night, medical reasons. Supposedly he had to undergo emergency surgery on a jaw? Get well soon.

Hmmn, I've never really 'got' Amanda, but that's for another thread, though some months back when I saw a DJ play it twice in a night, I did note how well well it mixes.
Anyways, I was listening to In the End this morning, and was just reflecting on how it's essentially a Perfect Track. I can vividly see myself in 15 years pulling it out and thinking "damn!, it doesn't get much better than this."
and get well soon tensnake!

"It's really different. With "Coma Cat" I remember I heard this track by Anthony & The Camp...I don't know if I should really talk about it right now, as we're currently negotiating a formal deal. Basically, I heard the track and got inspired. I get inspired by all the kooky stuff in tracks I discover here and there. There are no samples at all, though. It's all replays apart from the vocals."-- http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1248
I'm shocked. So he didn't sample it and just "borrow" the melody for this song without permission? Not quite right to me.
― dan138zig (Durrr Durrr Durrrrrr), Wednesday, 3 November 2010 04:00 (fifteen years ago)
Loving the In The House mix.
yeah in this context it's clear "amanda" is basically a disco edit.

Last week I ended up making a Tensnake 'album' for a friend of mine and it's tremendous:
1. False Pretender2. Tavira3. I Need Your Lovin' (Vocal)4. Toshi's Battle5. Coma Cat6. Congolal7. Holding Back (My Love)8. Can You Feel It?9. In The End (I Want To Cry)10. Keep Believing

― I DIED, Monday, 8 November 2010 21:55 (fifteen years ago)
apparently he's playing "live" here at the end of the year? someone who's seeing him this week report back if it's just DJing but off a laptop
― E.U. - da butt album (sic), Monday, 8 November 2010 22:36 (fifteen years ago)
From the Tensnake interview on RA that was posted up thread, it's live as in his own material.
― du mein bestie (micarl), Monday, 8 November 2010 22:42 (fifteen years ago)
Yeah we saw him live at Corsica Studios a few months ago. It is just him and a laptop but on the other hand you get to see him play all his stuff on a (hopefully) decent soundsystem in a club environment.
― Matt DC, Monday, 8 November 2010 23:08 (fifteen years ago)
pfffft
[xpost - it's probably just going to be outdoors in a park in 40°C heat unfortch. great lineup for a one-dayer but on NYD - if it doesn't sell out not much chance of club shows*. end aside to Matt]
(reads interview - Ableton with external controller, ah fair enough then)
same shows, Aeroplane's listed as DJing but Vito's advertising for an Australian girl singer to do the tour? confused promotion imo. (also stop worrying about someone who can do your album tracks, and hire Gisele to sing over your old stuff.)
