you sure about this?

NI, Tuesday, 20 July 2010 09:16 (fifteen years ago)

It hasn't leaked but there are promo copies doing the rounds.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 20 July 2010 09:25 (fifteen years ago)

I've heard the phrase "Rocky Horror Show" applied to the album, so am in the process of revising my expectations downwards.

Matt DC, Tuesday, 20 July 2010 09:25 (fifteen years ago)

that's how i figure someone would describe the mungolian jetset album, but as much as i dig that album.......

de jong and the restless (J0rdan S.), Tuesday, 20 July 2010 09:26 (fifteen years ago)

Album has finally leaked...thoughts later today

skip, Saturday, 24 July 2010 18:36 (fifteen years ago)

sounds really quite terrible so far.

jed_, Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:32 (fifteen years ago)

yep

ASBO slice (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:33 (fifteen years ago)

:(

orakle-krake (Gukbe), Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:38 (fifteen years ago)

Is this the real thing? Maybe someone made a fake like they did a few years ago with the Daft Punk album. (Sadly, I know it's not true.)

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:38 (fifteen years ago)

what's with the waling guitar over stuff?

i had hoped "Without Lies" would be the nadir but another vocal track has just come on that is possibly even worse. i feel quite embarrassed to be listening to it. maybe it's supposed to be stupid but i'm not sure if that can excuse it.

jed_, Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:44 (fifteen years ago)

Most of this sounds like demos the Scissor Sisters would've thrown in the dumpster behind the studio. Maybe the Aeroplane guys were waiting back there and grabbed them.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:46 (fifteen years ago)

ok this is a car crash.

jed_, Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:49 (fifteen years ago)

more like a plane crash

be told and get high on coconut (gbx), Saturday, 24 July 2010 19:56 (fifteen years ago)

!

what i'm listening to right now sounds like an elaborate prank.

sorry, i really don't want to ruin it for anyone else but i actually just lol'd at some abomination called "Fish in the Sky".

jed_, Saturday, 24 July 2010 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

that title alone cannot prepare you.

jed_, Saturday, 24 July 2010 20:00 (fifteen years ago)

ysi?

be told and get high on coconut (gbx), Saturday, 24 July 2010 20:05 (fifteen years ago)

hype hype

plax (ico), Saturday, 24 July 2010 20:05 (fifteen years ago)

why have they done this. :(

Merdeyeux, Saturday, 24 July 2010 21:52 (fifteen years ago)

If this is the real version, omens weren't exactly good with the declining quality of mixes and 'We Can't Fly' the song.

Davek (davek_00), Saturday, 24 July 2010 21:55 (fifteen years ago)

last.fm indicates there is more than one Aeroplane. Maybe this is one of the others masqerading as the Aeroplane we know?

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 21:56 (fifteen years ago)

For real, this album is not just a disappointment, but a legitimate contender for WORST OF THE YEAR.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 21:57 (fifteen years ago)

WTF

al gore vidal gore (s1ocki), Saturday, 24 July 2010 21:59 (fifteen years ago)

yeah. Can't think of a worse song this year than 'I Don't Feel', and 'Without Lies' is narrowly behind.

Merdeyeux, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:00 (fifteen years ago)

guys i need to hear this

be told and get high on coconut (gbx), Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:01 (fifteen years ago)

i've never been so scared to add something to my library.

brotherlovesdub, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:08 (fifteen years ago)

I am now going to wash out my ears by listening to Too Hard on repeat for five days.

Merdeyeux, Saturday, 24 July 2010 22:19 (fifteen years ago)

diff band, guys

hobbes, Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:37 (fifteen years ago)

holy cow maybe not!! ouch

hobbes, Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:37 (fifteen years ago)

No, it's definitely the same one we know: http://www.myspace.com/aeroplanemusiclove

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:39 (fifteen years ago)

Although, I'm going to get to NOT know them very quickly now.

Johnny Fever, Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:39 (fifteen years ago)

what in the hell is this? some of it sounds nice in a 70s disc/ELO type of feeling but then again, some of this sounds really awful.

matt damon & the jb's (the anephric project), Saturday, 24 July 2010 23:41 (fifteen years ago)

this is hilariously awful but that's.... something.

i kind of feel like i want to listen to it again just in case i'm missing the point but i'm pretty sure i'm not. Without Lies, Good Riddance, Fish In The Sky and We Fall Over are genuinely fascinating in their awfulness but I Don't Feel is just an unlistenable racket. if you're someone like me who listens quite closely to lyrics then i recommend a stiff drink before you hear this. it's a genuinely bizarre record.

jed_, Sunday, 25 July 2010 01:53 (fifteen years ago)

how many times can i say "genuinely"?! thank god i don't write songs.

jed_, Sunday, 25 July 2010 01:56 (fifteen years ago)

what i'm listening to right now sounds like an elaborate prank.

This about sums it up. I could see about half the tracks growing on me and the rest...either it's brilliantly forward-thinking or straight up shitty.

skip, Sunday, 25 July 2010 02:29 (fifteen years ago)

scared to hear this... they were one of my favorite things a year and a half ago or so...

selected ambient worker (another al3x), Sunday, 25 July 2010 02:32 (fifteen years ago)

I liked the Jim Steinman-inspired bridge in We Can't Fly, but I didn't expect the whole album to be an homage to him.

I DIED, Sunday, 25 July 2010 07:02 (fifteen years ago)

major major major lols at "Good Riddance"

Simon H., Sunday, 25 July 2010 08:36 (fifteen years ago)

music for Jared Hess soundtracks.

Simon H., Sunday, 25 July 2010 08:37 (fifteen years ago)

oh god it opens with that 'electric piano' patch that's on every cheapo keyboard

this is gonna be monstrous in some way or another

ciderpress, Sunday, 25 July 2010 15:04 (fifteen years ago)

this is all a big running inside joke right guys? haha can't wait till we actually hear the record and have a good laugh about it

al gore vidal gore (s1ocki), Sunday, 25 July 2010 16:42 (fifteen years ago)

maybe this explains why one of them abandoned ship.

brotherlovesdub, Sunday, 25 July 2010 17:42 (fifteen years ago)

i have been meaning to check these dudes out since forever and today is the first time i've actually openned this thread lol

young monet (samosa gibreel), Sunday, 25 July 2010 17:47 (fifteen years ago)

this is all a big running inside joke right guys?

I wish :(

skip, Sunday, 25 July 2010 17:50 (fifteen years ago)

someone should have sat them down in the initial stages and told them that they can't write songs and that they should forget that and put ten good tracks together. i wonder who wrote the lyrics, them or the singers? because they have to be written by someone who can't speak english well.

having said that i enjoyed boggling at this.

jed_, Sunday, 25 July 2010 18:04 (fifteen years ago)

I might listen to this one or two more times in December, when I have to craft some kind of paragraph to award it WORST ALBUM OF THE YEAR.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 25 July 2010 18:06 (fifteen years ago)

did you take any joy at all from it? because i laughed two or three times.

jed_, Sunday, 25 July 2010 18:08 (fifteen years ago)

I probably just cringed at the things you laughed at. It's why I have a hard time watching embarrassing situations in tv shows like the original BBC The Office or whatever. I hate feeling that uncomfortable, and this album is that feeling magnified.

Johnny Fever, Sunday, 25 July 2010 18:10 (fifteen years ago)

lol guys stop ur beating this joke to death

kim cardassian (s1ocki), Sunday, 25 July 2010 18:32 (fifteen years ago)

I got an email last week saying this was beyond terrible, so maybe it's not a joke :/

Matt DC, Sunday, 25 July 2010 18:38 (fifteen years ago)

i know, i'll shut up until more people have heard it.

jed_, Sunday, 25 July 2010 18:38 (fifteen years ago)
