side question, is there anybody who owns close to or all of the major wu-related releases? this means like Cappadonna, Killah Priest, Inspectah Deck solo albums....

I've got all the first round releases - but I stopped after the second Meth, Raekwon, GZA etc. albums all sucked

I don't think most of the Wu solo careers could handle the RZA's abdication of production, with a few few exceptions (Ghost, ODB). Took awhile for most of them to figure out who to use besides RZA, some still haven't figured it out...

I think "winter warz" was originally a cappa solo track on the soundtrack to don't be a menace to south central

yeah I'm not denying that there's good stuff after the first round - it just took some time for Rae and GZA to kinda figure out how to work effectively without the RZA imho. Ghost didn't really have this problem for some reason...

Iron Maiden, 260, Daytona 500, and Motherless Child are pretty much the only ones that really stuck with me. Daytona 500 is my go to track here. I love the production on that one - keeping it simple with turntables and rhymes - I wish more hip hop tracks would strip it down like this.

IRON MAIDEN! I think THIS is Cappa's best verse on the album.

xp that weird period between like 02-05 when all the old breaks started popping up again was pretty dope imo

yea I like Legend of the Liquid Sword, Inspectah's first solo joint, and I really like Masta Killa's No Said Date too

daytona for the nautilus loop alone

see, I can't vote for daytona cause it's mostly a nautilus loop and it seems wrong to say the best track on an album mainly produced by RZA is an overused sample.

WuTang, Delfonics #1, son

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Tuesday, 20 July 2010 02:23 (fourteen years ago) link

I'm shocked no one likes Black Jesus! Except for the front matter, I think that's one of the best songs in the Wu canon.

Surprised to be the only vote for Iron Maiden. One of the most exciting album openers I've ever heard. But nothing to argue with here.

two years pass...

I stop producers careers, the weak spot was their ears
Scorpion darts hits their mark, pierce their heart with silver spears
You're bewildered, my unsaturated, low filtered
Devils still peeled it still they're living built tilted
MC's upon their axis, their body has a tactic
Lactic acid, desert drop cactus, practice
You can never master, it's invincible, Wu-Tang indispensable
One nation under God, indivisible
With liberty and justice, the mic is in my clutches
Thugs who bring ruckus, leave in crutches
Unforgiveable snakes face the double-edged swords starts to swivel
Decapitates the head, makes the projects, more livable
Interchangable, caution flameable
My chamber is ninety-nine plus one unnameable, angles
And strangles, microphone cords start to dangle
Silent as the gases that pass throughout your anal
Retrieve through your doors
Seep out like sweat through the pores
Destroy your internal organs with the biological warfare

"All That I Got is You" is devastating.
