anyone have a tracklisting of what mayer played at the BRW?

I think I heard these:

ada, "maps" (some drawn out remix?)
ada, "eve"
closer musik, "1 2 3 no gravity (ewan pearson mix)"
frei / köhncke, "hot love (dj koze rmx.)"

... and then blank.

Superpitcher - 'Happiness (M.Mayer remix)'
Baxendale (!) - 'I Built this City' I think

("Cashpoint Re-edit" of latter, possibly)

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 30 April 2005 13:58 (nineteen years ago) link

also, has anyone heard the new eskimo thing yet? is it a mix or a comp? the tracklisting looks pretty great.

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 30 April 2005 13:59 (nineteen years ago) link

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 30 April 2005 14:01 (nineteen years ago) link

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 30 April 2005 14:02 (nineteen years ago) link

i think it's better than kil the dj.

jed_ (jed), Saturday, 30 April 2005 14:03 (nineteen years ago) link

cozen (Cozen), Saturday, 30 April 2005 14:27 (nineteen years ago) link

There is no other. I was thinking of Hefner.

Alba (Alba), Saturday, 30 April 2005 14:32 (nineteen years ago) link

perhaps mayer has read this.

"One more choon! One more choon! One more choon! One more choon!"

What a fine thing to christen my new CD player with.

Mr Optimo, you should consider coming to the West Coast with your concern, and when I say the West Coast I mean "San Francisco".

Also saw that thing about my babies above. Interesting!

the blackest hand, Monday, 23 May 2005 17:13 (nineteen years ago) link

Anybody else have burst of noise occur a couple of seconds into track 14 (ie, second part of "I Walk")?

-- Jedmond (jedmon...), January 4th, 2005 11:56 AM. (Jedmond)

yup, 4999 other people. it seems the first batch of 5000 have this manufacturing flaw which wasn't discovered until after they had been shipped to the shops. tigersushi will replace any of the ofeending copies if they are sent back to them direct (which i can appreciate is probably more effort than anyone is going to be bothered with).

-- stirmonster (jd_twitc...), January 4th, 2005 12:24 PM.

crazy!! i just got this like 2 weeks ago and i guess i'm one of the 5000. i thought it was intentional.

s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 03:04 (nineteen years ago) link

i think when you say "san francisco", what you mean to say is "los angeles"

firstworldman (firstworldman), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 03:12 (nineteen years ago) link

What's a "Los Angeles"?

I just want to say that I finally played the Psyche Out mix CD yesterday and it was outstanding.

JoB (JoB), Monday, 1 August 2005 10:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Optimo are DJing in Brighton in a few weeks time, I can't wait!

Here's a question for anyone with the How to Kill the DJ pt 2 mix...just bought it today, and about halfway through the "one more tune" crowd chant at the end, there's a loud *POP*. Apologies for the trivial question, but I'm wondering if I've got a bum CD or if it's there in the mix- it's really quite startling.

Telephonething (Telephonething), Saturday, 10 September 2005 20:46 (eighteen years ago) link

I think there were some problematic CDs in the first run, possibly mentioned on this thread at some point.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 10 September 2005 20:50 (eighteen years ago) link

It is mentioned somewhere up there. Second press is ok so return it and get that.

Raw Patrick (Raw Patrick), Saturday, 10 September 2005 21:36 (eighteen years ago) link

Thanks. Where would I return it to, though? Tigersushi and Kill the DJ are both in Paris, and returning it to Insound might be a gamble on getting the same pressing again. Is there a US distributor I could get in touch with?

God, I feel silly about this. But those POPs (found another one, in the "Dexter" segment) will haunt me to my dying day otherwise. I'm totally compulsive about this kind of thing...

Telephonething (Telephonething), Saturday, 10 September 2005 21:43 (eighteen years ago) link

i've never heard of there being one in the 'dexter' segment before - odd. i'm not sure who the us distributor is but i know forced exposure did some distro on it. david day from forced exposure posts here so you could ask him. otherwise, i could burn you a cdr from the master (if i can find it).

stirmonster (stirmonster), Saturday, 10 September 2005 23:48 (eighteen years ago) link

Looks like you were unable to OMIT POP ahahaha *dies of shame*

*cymbal crash*

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 11 September 2005 01:13 (eighteen years ago) link

i think it's so funny that insound now carries the kill the dj comp. a few years back i recommended that they might start stocking tigersushi, as it seemed to be just the sort of "dance music" their indie buyers would lap up like warm milk -- and i got a really snide response from someone there that they just didn't have time to listen to all the "electronic music" out there. guess they found time.

philip sherburne (philip sherburne), Sunday, 11 September 2005 11:52 (eighteen years ago) link

I really want to go tonight and see the Fire Engines, but I am very poor. Convince me, Glasgow.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 11 September 2005 12:16 (eighteen years ago) link

it will be your last chance ever to see them and i promise they will be as entertaining as it is possible to be in 23 minutes. if you are very skint, i can put you on a half price list.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Sunday, 11 September 2005 12:33 (eighteen years ago) link

Arse, I forgot about this tonight. I'm not sure I am up to it. If I am not there, try to have fun without me.

Ally C (Ally C), Sunday, 11 September 2005 17:29 (eighteen years ago) link

cozen (Cozen), Sunday, 11 September 2005 17:40 (eighteen years ago) link

not that stirmonster is going to see this in time, but thanks for the offer - I'm not going to make it now. Report back, someone.

ailsa (ailsa), Sunday, 11 September 2005 18:56 (eighteen years ago) link

i shed a tear.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Monday, 12 September 2005 04:40 (eighteen years ago) link

haha, this really was great even if, like me (!!!), you had never even heard The Fire Engines before! tight as fuck and so fresh sounding.

i would like to go to optimo too one day.

when optimo visited montreal unfortunately i had a work-related dj gig the same night :(

s1ocki (slutsky), Sunday, 8 January 2006 21:52 (eighteen years ago) link

stir,

the optimo site explicitly says not to email you about this.. rather than bother Tigersushi, can I ask here?

Any insight on any remaining record shops still stocking Kill the DJ Part 2 on 3x12"? or was it a limited friends pressing and i should just give up?

many thx

titty sanskrit (sanskrit), Thursday, 12 January 2006 01:30 (eighteen years ago) link

it was a pressing of one copy! they did one test pressing (which i have) but they messed it up and missed off the arthur russell track. i waited and waited for them to do another test pressing but that was the last i ever heard about it. sadly i am almost certain it will never see the light of day now. i keep meaning to change the info on the website. in fact, i'll go and do that now.

stirmonster (stirmonster), Thursday, 12 January 2006 01:42 (eighteen years ago) link

One day I will make it up there for Optimo! I'm not saying it wasn't good when I saw you in Brighton, but I'd like the full expereience.

Chewshabadoo (Chewshabadoo), Thursday, 12 January 2006 08:35 (eighteen years ago) link

God, I envy you people that live in the part of the world that gets Optimo with any regularity (translation: PLEASE TO BE PLAYING IN LOS ANGELES).

think of all the ILM people who wish they were in glasgow. if you're not going to do it for them at least do it to make them jealous.
