This album has only one bad song and it's "The Train pt II"

RONG, that is easily in my top ten. I think, as of right now, "Night Night" is the weakest link for me.

Not sure if there has already been talk about the "Shine Blockas" remix with Bun B and Project Pat on the deluxe edition, but it rubs me the wrong way by being SUCH a lazy "remix". I mean, it essentially just pastes in Bun and Pat's verses, leaving Big's original verse in. Bun's verse is killer though.

I was just disappointed in the remix is all, seeing Bun listed on there is what made me shell out the 2 extra bucks for the "deluxe version" in the first place.

Yeah, I meant to mention that part. I just felt like that song could have had such a great remix by keeping Gucci and tossing in those two other guys.

i never know why songs have like 3 dif remix versions. I'd like to hear just one long version with everyone, hahaha

"The Train Pt 2" is a good song! "Follow Us" is by default the worst song because of the Worst Chorus Of The Year.

I played this through once and it's great; I am certain it's going to cement itself on subsequent plays but right now I'm kind of in M.I.A. land

because of the enthusiasm in this thread i broke down and bought a copy. i was a huge fan of 'Kast a while back, but not as much Speakerboxx/Love Below. what's the production/Boi's flow like in relation to his Outkast work? and moreso is this gonna make me not wanna listen to other music for a week?

big boi's flow is big boi's flow for the most part, it's not a real break with how he's rapped his whole career.

This is hot fire. like this is nothing like i expected it might sound like, in a major good way. the production is so expansive and awesome...can't really do this album justice with words other than it just FEELS like a party.

i put off getting this mostly as I was in an east coast mood these last few weeks but this is welcome, most welcome.

its got buzzsaw synths, a clean toned higher melodic line, thumping drums - these are all trademarks of his style. doesn't sound to me like it would be out of place on Crunk Juice, tbh. what do you hear about it that's unusual?

For the sake of your argument, if I compare Get Crunk (which has some of the same DNA)to Hustle Blood the former has a great deal more subtlety, depth, sinew, ominous grind and delicacy to my ears.

YMMV I guess, but I'm of the opinion that this is the best production I've heard from Jon in years.

don't get me wrong it's a good production, def the best thing I've heard of his in years too. I dunno what subtley, depth, sinew, ominous grind and delicacy mean in terms of the actual musical elements involved tbh. If you mean the synths are processed and compressed a particularly different way and the drums are programmed in a really strange way or something, I dunno, I don't hear it. I don't hear anything that unusual in the song itself, its made up of the usual elements of modern hip hop and nothing strikes me as particularly uncharacteristic - and if I was using a bit of a broad brush it's because Jon's not the most idiosyncratic/unique producer out there to begin with! He's always fit right in with other stuff on the radio.

I only brought up One Night Stand because it has roughly the same tempo, similar synth sounds (a bed of buzzier ones providing the support for chirpier, cleaner melodic lines), the female chorus, etc.

um, I don't mean to suggest that he's using a hurdy-gurdy or doing anything super innovative musically here or even that it's a particularly unusual song. I'm just saying that it doesn't sound like Lil' Jon production and it also is fucking great, not that those are necessarily independent traits.
Subtle, deep, sinuous, ominous and delicate are words I would use to describe the song, not the drum machine. I dunno the last time anybody called Jon "subtle" but it fits here.

That would be dope, though, if Lil Jon made a beat w a hurdy-gurdy.

Night Night is the clunker in here for me, the Joi section is so so cringeworthy.

Personally I don't see that much of a difference between Get Crunk and Hustle Blood expect one has Jon shouting on it and the other has Foxx do that smooth singinginginging.

I wish they could re-release Grand Theft Auto: Vice City with these tracks coming out of the car speakers....
