xp yeah i'm hardly complaining, i mean every song here is just classic mixtape gucci - choruses are all perfectly fine and efficient, and his verses seem more focused than i've seen him in a while, they're all good to great imo. even the guest verses are all pretty good i think

i still think this is an oddly sober record & its missing a lot of the pop-weirdness im drawn too ... as long as its just another unique mixtape & not a 'future direction of boringness' im fine w/ it though

it's much more about verses than anything else

i think it's a thrilling tape -- most fun i've had listening to something for the first time all year

"long money" is the rightful heir to "everything", the #1 epic gucci slow burner

Let’s start off with the beat. Gucci bought it for five dollars. If he paid more than he probably cops new wack ass jewelry all the time that he thinks will make look better. He probably gets discouraged easily and calls ppl hater. Gucci sounds monotonous on this track and Swizz can do whatever he wants now in rap because his girl is Alicia Keys(so if he wants to make some wack hooks it’s ok.) Yo I hear indy music is hott in New York so let’s sample indy artist that nobody cares about so we don’t pay that much publishing. so on mr. zone 6 i think its not really quite on the high water mark of the first & 3rd movie mixtapes. imho. Aside from "long money" a lot of it is missing some of the weirder mutant pop moments from like ... 'im a star' or 'my shadow'. where u have bachelor pad up against you know what it is ('im in miami in a wife beater feelin the breeze, a wife beater but im unmarried, lookin for skeez...'

hes def aiming for a more lyrical vibe w/ this record which i think is important but can also be kinda dry

i feel like that's a valid criticism for your specific taste -- personally, "i'm a star" and "my shadow" were never two of my favorite joints

but you and i talked about this a few months back when we were talking about "wonderful", how even tho it's crazy lyrical it might not be the 'best' example of gucci's total appeal... i still think that they lyrics are so good on 'mr. zone 6' that it doesn't really matter

i mean dont get me wrong i dont think its a fall off or anything. i just hope he keeps switching up the vibe of each individual tape

'bachelor pad' has become a sleeper fav gucci track for me recently

it's a really undelirious tape for gucci. even tho he's rapping abt the same things there's no mania or sense of fun on the level of other stuff. it's different in a way i haven't really got a handle on. maybe it's just gangster like that. it still might be one of his best tapes tho, never feels empty just dense and p cohesive.

"gucci time" is the new single, it's on his myspace, different verses/hook etc than the one that leaked a few weeks ago tho
