talk about the definition of not worth your time
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:36 (eighteen years ago)
im totally on the cool kids bandwagon in any event
i only really like the EP, but the beats are pretty uniformly hot and each dude has some really exceptional spots wrt to rapping. they are still inconsistent but for dudes in their 20s on their first EP i think they're worth the investment
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:38 (eighteen years ago)
i saw them like two or three weeks ago and they absolutely murdered in front of a shit load of people who were really really hyped to see them (weirdly) and those dudes can rap their asses off for real
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:40 (eighteen years ago)
by worth the investment i mean i think they've shown that they've got a lot of good ideas, and maybe it's backwards to praise them for being able to transcend the box they constructed for themselves but i still feel like that
the only thing is, i think the newer songs on the EP are the weakest and i don't think it bodes well that their full album is coming out in 3 months or something
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:40 (eighteen years ago)
yeah their whole thing so far has been handled very weirdly with releases and labels and shows and stuff who knows what the fuck is going on or how long they will last in the hype limelight
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:42 (eighteen years ago)
also my post was either gonna be the cool kids or the new Rick Ross and Pharrell joint which is LIKE NEW HOT PRE CARTER III FIRE MUSIC but no one else will be feeling yet or ever and thank god for another ross album or more "how great is II Trill?" etc...soo take your pick
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:43 (eighteen years ago)
I got this 89-90 Pistons champ flat bill black starter cap with the hologram tags White Mag rims, red rubber tires, chain, frame, pegs, grips, shipped to my supplier dope man attire, gimme bout an hour and i'll have it clicking, ticking, gliding, flying like McGuyver
^^one of my favorite parts of any verse this year
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:44 (eighteen years ago)
another ross album really?
go bump by "put on" thread
do you still not like that song?
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:46 (eighteen years ago)
no. it's really pretty amazing it had to grow on me... shit is epic. but I'm trying to do the same for "Got Money" and it's coming a little bit harder...considering that the joint is gonna be inescapable in a couple weeks I guess I won't have to try that hard
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:49 (eighteen years ago)
we're all really just living in a CMR-enforced purgatory right now cuz Carter III is about to leak any day now and shit is going to be over like for all of 2008
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:51 (eighteen years ago)
im not going to listen to it until i buy it bcuz i'm not about to trust any leak
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:52 (eighteen years ago)
fuck the cool kids
― deej, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:53 (eighteen years ago)
speaking of rappers still in their 20s im gonna see T.I. next month at a venue that fits 3k
― deej, Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:54 (eighteen years ago)
the problem w/ the cool kids is that they're way too hyped to ever put out a king or a carter II or an idk i'll sleep when your dead (or w/e artists have peaked with albums 3 or 4+ into their career) when people still care about them
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 04:57 (eighteen years ago)
thank god they'll never put out an el-p album
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:01 (eighteen years ago)
el-p > the cool kids
also 'i'm serious' > anything the cool kids will drop.
― deej, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:04 (eighteen years ago)
right i'm not saying that they are ever going to release anything as good as king or carter II (two of my favorite albums of the decade) or whatever just that they're already caught up in this huge indie hype tornado that makes it impossible for bands to put out their best album 3 or 4 albums in (see: tapes n tapes)
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:06 (eighteen years ago)
Shawty Lo's album > King and everything he's done besides maybe Trap Muzik
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:06 (eighteen years ago)
it's kind of uncharted water for a rap group. i mean even if saigon's album was total shit there'd still be enough ppl checking for him in ny that if he put out a really really good 3rd album he still might get some shine. i don't think that's possible when your whole audience is made up of people who go to sxsw
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:07 (eighteen years ago)
omg fucking ban
AND as someone who's written a favorable review of the cool kids for an online webzine i can't say that i'm not contributing but such is the world that we live (write) in i guess
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:08 (eighteen years ago)
and when yr appeal is based on where a small niche audience's head is at as far as rap fashion (i.e. sounding vaguely like the clipse, rapping about different kinds of bicycles, wearing dookie ropes) rather than actually being good/interesting at rapping
― deej, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:09 (eighteen years ago)
see i think their whole aesthetic is pretty rad + i think they can rap but yah i mean they got a lot of fucking fans who like them cuz of how they dress
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:10 (eighteen years ago)
im ignoring chinchillas challops
chinchallops
― deej, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:11 (eighteen years ago)
p12 (can i use your real first name <--- this shit is annoyin) im actually not even mad at you for saying that units in the city is better than all t.i. albums, instead i pity you for sitting through a shawty lo album
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:12 (eighteen years ago)
DID YOU SEND SHAWTY LO T.I.'S YEARBOOK PICTURE
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:13 (eighteen years ago)
PREVIEW OF THE MATRIX 12 IS NOT FROM BANKHEAD
not really that challenging of an opinion King is an overrated boring piece of shit album with a bunch of guests and typically boring Just Blaze beats etc....obviously it has one of the dopest singles but so does LO
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:17 (eighteen years ago)
I'll use my real name next time or at some point and destroy all credibility that I may some day have sure why not
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:18 (eighteen years ago)
you cant just throw around challops with your real name
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:19 (eighteen years ago)
actually good rappers (jeezy, luda, e-40, gorilla zoe) on the "dey know" single>>>>>>>>the "funny" dude who originally did it
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:20 (eighteen years ago)
and "what you know">80 more of these>"dey know"
lol dude there are plenty of dudes on ilm alone throwing around challops with your first name. ain't gotta tell us your last name tho
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:21 (eighteen years ago)
both beats are epics tho, but comparing shawty lo to t.i. as an mc is fucking ridiculous
― J0rdan S., Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:22 (eighteen years ago)
I never did or would. clearly he's a better rapper but that doesn't mean Units In The City isn't raw like it is
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:25 (eighteen years ago)
it's like sure jonah hill is no mike meyers but that doesn't mean the love guru isn't gonna be a piece of shit you smell me
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Thursday, 29 May 2008 05:28 (eighteen years ago)

the Budos band thing at the end is my favorite....Chicago Falcon remix or whatever
― chinchillas they can fit on gorillas, Friday, 30 May 2008 16:05 (eighteen years ago)
i'm pretty posi on wale so far.
honestly right now i'm pretty in love with "american boy" by estelle and kanye...kinda late on that i know but damn that's a nice air conditioned type private jet beat.
― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 30 May 2008 16:06 (eighteen years ago)
thats a great song
― deej, Friday, 30 May 2008 16:16 (eighteen years ago)
i'm kinda digging "hi haters" by maino too! i like those odd NYC one hit throwaway gimmick bangers...seems like the mims of 08
― M@tt He1ges0n, Friday, 30 May 2008 16:17 (eighteen years ago)
also because i'm down with songs about haters, i'm pretty sure that "haters everywhere" by B.O.B. is my fav hip hop song of the year.
