talk about the definition of not worth your time

im totally on the cool kids bandwagon in any event

i only really like the EP, but the beats are pretty uniformly hot and each dude has some really exceptional spots wrt to rapping. they are still inconsistent but for dudes in their 20s on their first EP i think they're worth the investment

i saw them like two or three weeks ago and they absolutely murdered in front of a shit load of people who were really really hyped to see them (weirdly) and those dudes can rap their asses off for real

by worth the investment i mean i think they've shown that they've got a lot of good ideas, and maybe it's backwards to praise them for being able to transcend the box they constructed for themselves but i still feel like that

the only thing is, i think the newer songs on the EP are the weakest and i don't think it bodes well that their full album is coming out in 3 months or something

yeah their whole thing so far has been handled very weirdly with releases and labels and shows and stuff who knows what the fuck is going on or how long they will last in the hype limelight

also my post was either gonna be the cool kids or the new Rick Ross and Pharrell joint which is LIKE NEW HOT PRE CARTER III FIRE MUSIC but no one else will be feeling yet or ever and thank god for another ross album or more "how great is II Trill?" etc...soo take your pick

no. it's really pretty amazing it had to grow on me... shit is epic. but I'm trying to do the same for "Got Money" and it's coming a little bit harder...considering that the joint is gonna be inescapable in a couple weeks I guess I won't have to try that hard

the problem w/ the cool kids is that they're way too hyped to ever put out a king or a carter II or an idk i'll sleep when your dead (or w/e artists have peaked with albums 3 or 4+ into their career) when people still care about them

thank god they'll never put out an el-p album

also 'i'm serious' > anything the cool kids will drop.

right i'm not saying that they are ever going to release anything as good as king or carter II (two of my favorite albums of the decade) or whatever just that they're already caught up in this huge indie hype tornado that makes it impossible for bands to put out their best album 3 or 4 albums in (see: tapes n tapes)

Shawty Lo's album > King and everything he's done besides maybe Trap Muzik

it's kind of uncharted water for a rap group. i mean even if saigon's album was total shit there'd still be enough ppl checking for him in ny that if he put out a really really good 3rd album he still might get some shine. i don't think that's possible when your whole audience is made up of people who go to sxsw

AND as someone who's written a favorable review of the cool kids for an online webzine i can't say that i'm not contributing but such is the world that we live (write) in i guess

and when yr appeal is based on where a small niche audience's head is at as far as rap fashion (i.e. sounding vaguely like the clipse, rapping about different kinds of bicycles, wearing dookie ropes) rather than actually being good/interesting at rapping

see i think their whole aesthetic is pretty rad + i think they can rap but yah i mean they got a lot of fucking fans who like them cuz of how they dress
