larry heard was really really fucking good. also went to carl craig on friday with amp fiddler (live). more techno and old school/acid house than i get in a normal weekend, but both killed it.

Was in town for On Land and pretty busy so sorry I didn't get in touch with folks. Great times had, though -- anyone else at the shows?

i wish i didn't have to think of it in financial terms but - there were about 8 or 9 acts i wanted to see, and they were spread between the four shows, and half of them were folks i could see at house shows for free/a few bucks, plus there's the crappy parking situation, and the expensive alcohol situation, and the high ticket charge, so, no, i didn't go.

La Rondalla was an institution! mostly for the margaritas and year-round xmas lights

Leather Tongue was quickly eclipsed by Lost Weekend for me

I only went to Madrone the one time five or so years ago (with some "ilx types".) Every time I drive by it still looks like a douche factory.

What do they sell at the Leather Tongue space now? Overpriced jeans?

It's young and arty and that can lead to douchitude but at the right time of day w/the right bartender, I actually like the place.

I remember wandering into LT one time and the TVs were showing a GG Allin doc/performance, featuring the usual shit-eating, stabbing, blood-smearing etc.

I can do without those kind of bootlegs I think... LW gets pretty much everything I could be interested in, they have plenty of out-of-print stuff, obscure music DVDs, etc.

Every time you watched a bootleg from Leather Tongue another Hollywood stuntman went hungry.

xp - Lost Weekend employs/has employed quite a few of my friends - that was not meant as a diss on that place by any means.
