still tempted to see them live but I've looked at parts of their performances on YouTube, and I feel like there's the strong possibility their live show will be hella embarassing

no. it's hella awesome. you just need to ditch the self-consciousness and get really into it.

when they opened for yeasayer, the first five-ten rows were freaking out along with them and having a fucking BLAST and the rest of the crowd was skeptically being embarrassed for everyone involved.

I'll give you one guess which of us had more fun.

I like every song on this album but "rill rill"

i feel since last summer of the internet putting up anything that "evokes summer," this year there's now so much of the stuff that quality control has gone to shit, and "rill rill" is the one shining beacon of truth and real summer pop

Rill rill is like the classic puff daddy definition of not doing anything with a sample and it's annoying to see the indie brigade who dogged puff for "I'll be missing you" get so hard behind it.

Maybe if puff put a "chillwave/anco/summer" filter on the police?

Funkadelic's 'Can You Get to That'. Sure it's not super-ingenious sampling, but they're completely different songs, so I'm fine with that.

not sure why people need more slow loud, distorted mushmouth (albeit with updated drum programming) in their lives, but I have enough of it from the 90s that I can't really throw stones. i think people might be more okay with "i'll be missing you" if it was some dope summer pop like "rill rill" instead of a cheap and overly maudlin tribute to a dead dude
