Listened to 'Lucidity' in the Hype Machine radio show and it immediately caught my attention. Love the chorus.

~3 minutes into "The Bold Arrow of Time" i thought they were gonna bust into a rendition of Lenny Kravitz's "Are You Gonna Go My Way?"

i heard one song "desire be desire go" and it's pretty fucking awesome

total lennon + dungen which is pretty dope + maybe a lil more psyching out

So this is supposed to be out now in the U.S. ...so why isn't it available anywhere (physically)? Why isn't Modular's website particularly helpful? :(

The lack of info anywhere is surprising and frustrating.

Yeah this is pretty sweet and a weird record to go in at number 4 in any country's main album charts.

after few listens, i'm downgrading a bit:
still very good record, but something like 4-5 songs aren't so good and suffers from insecurity of thr "first release syndrome".
i think they need to mature a little.

This seems to specifically say that it will only be available on iTunes in the US. Is that not where you're looking?

It's a good album, two or three fantastic tracks. But they will be easy prey when the hype becomes unbearable. You know, 'Revolver era cover band', this kind of stuff...

I'm on "Runaway Houses City Clouds." On first listen, this is more tedious than The National, Caribou, and Broken Social Scene records.

There's playing sorta unannounced tonight at The Echo. How's their live sound? The studio album isn't doing much for me (Flaming Lips/The Coral b-sides)

They namedrop Frank Zappa's 'Peaches en regalia' on that pitchfork feature upthread and I've got to say it is a spot on influence on their trademark sound and that of other similar sounding bands like Dungen. I do not know why I never noticed before.

This though is blissful, right down to the cover. The bassist is genius. Reminds me of Greg Norton from the Du. Melodic as fuck

tis good stuff.

good live show, more competent than particularly great. could be a great live show with just a few changes:
1) play louder. a lot louder.
2) don't front-load the set so much
3) learn how to wig out properly a.s.a.p.

This album would be great... if it had come out in 2005. As it is I feel like I've burnt out on Dungen-style stuff since then, and this doesn't seem to be as exciting as that, so I feel a bit meh about it.

I still really like these guys, I get the Dungen comparions but I feel like this stuff works because Dungen has moved further away from the psych-rock thing and more into a psych-jazz sort of thing on recent albums. This sort of like picks up the slack of circa 2005 Dungen a little.

I finally picked this up on CD this past week, and was surprised to read in the liner notes that it's pretty close to a one-man project. Not sure how their live outfit is these days.

this album is kind of stunning, you just have to be in the right mood to hear it. honestly, that has been awhile.

I agree that Dungen is off the mark. Try early Radio Dept. and you're getting closer.
