eh...it's very to be all smh def jam because once upon a time they were def jam but i don't think their methods or success rate at breaking new artists at this point is any different from any other major label

and again, i feel like there's zero difference between an unsigned rapper vs. a signed new rapper these days...if they've got the drive or star quality or whatever to make it, someone will scoop them up eventually anyway, and if they don't have what it takes they're just gonna drop mixtapes and never have an album whether or not there's a label around to shelve it.
