yeah no duh i already mentioned that -- alfred said "we" as in people posting itt & reaction has been completely mixed

ok dennis hopper (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 29 May 2010 21:14 (sixteen years ago)

alfred is an eccentric & u are riding lex kneejerk popism here

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Saturday, 29 May 2010 21:16 (sixteen years ago)

most of the monae stans aren't even feeling this!!

ok dennis hopper (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 29 May 2010 21:17 (sixteen years ago)

not sure how this qualifies as knee jerk popism -- she's signed to bad boy & sold 3 times as many albums in her first week as electrik red -- i just think there's a lot bluster & noise on the album and not much quality songwriting

ok dennis hopper (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 29 May 2010 21:18 (sixteen years ago)

i haven't even said i dislike this yet, and i quite liked her ep!! i will say that 100% of the critical response (ugh, that perpetua review that i ended up reading by accident) makes me roll my eyes though.

لوووووووووووووووووووول (lex pretend), Saturday, 29 May 2010 21:19 (sixteen years ago)

& you have more eccentric tastes than alfred, you tard

ok dennis hopper (J0rdan S.), Saturday, 29 May 2010 21:19 (sixteen years ago)

whats wrong with the perpetua review lex

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Saturday, 29 May 2010 21:59 (sixteen years ago)

the quality songwriting is exactly why this is great fwiw

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Saturday, 29 May 2010 22:00 (sixteen years ago)

cold war is def my favorite vocal performance

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Saturday, 29 May 2010 22:25 (sixteen years ago)

"there's a lot bluster & noise on the album and not much quality songwriting"
^kinda where I'm at; the razzmatazz gets cloying

and I voted for Metropolis as top 10 p+j in 08 and I'm pretty sure this won't make it into my top 20 unless another few listens really changes my perspective... though tightrope might be a top ten single.

i think a more restricted palette served her better; this is nice and it has def high points but after three or four listens I haven't felt as compelled to return to this as, say, Josh Turner or Guido or Ratatat or Ellie Goulding or

btw, nellie calmed down that jazz hands shit over her last two hands and is no longer quite so drastically unfocused and is quietly building a pretty nice discog

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:41 (sixteen years ago)

"last two hands" = "last two albums"

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:41 (sixteen years ago)

dog u like ratatat

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:42 (sixteen years ago)

yes and you like jacka

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:47 (sixteen years ago)

our respective crosses to bear

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:48 (sixteen years ago)

btw i listened to shooterz for a week and finally decided that, with exceptions, you and i have definitely different tastes and that's kinda where it's at

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:49 (sixteen years ago)

ratatat is great!

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:53 (sixteen years ago)

alfred is an eccentric

Ha! Okay! That's a first.

It's Memorial Day weekend, bros. Take the album on your iPods. Play it for your friends.

forksclovetofu, Saturday, 29 May 2010 23:59 (sixteen years ago)

ok dennis hopper (J0rdan S.), Sunday, 30 May 2010 00:12 (sixteen years ago)

all over me and starz are runnin get some play every now and again, but overall not so much

forksclovetofu, Sunday, 30 May 2010 00:13 (sixteen years ago)

reign god is okay but so much of that mix sounds like g-unit recycling

forksclovetofu, Sunday, 30 May 2010 00:14 (sixteen years ago)

do you mean its ... gangster rap?

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Sunday, 30 May 2010 00:26 (sixteen years ago)

bcuz jacka himself doesnt really sound like any member of g-unit & certainly has his own lyrical style

its like why GROCERY BAG and not saddam? (deej), Sunday, 30 May 2010 00:27 (sixteen years ago)

anyway we should take that to the fruity therad

Haven't really heard much of her stuff, but I'm excited that I'll be seeing her open for Ms Badu tonight.

this record is cool, but sometimes it's a little too "jazz hands" for moi

m@tt (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 2 June 2010 16:02 (sixteen years ago)

holy shit, she's touring with Badu?????

i think it's funny how popists basically react like O.G. indie rockers when the uncool kids invade the clubhouse

argh, not going to be able to go

Neither am I! I'll be in Canada when they swing through.

Ned Raggett, Wednesday, 2 June 2010 16:34 (sixteen years ago)

I'll be in a part of Canada that they won't be swinging through.

it's very suuuuuuuuuuuuspicious!!!!!

NUDE. MAYNE. (s1ocki), Thursday, 3 June 2010 12:52 (sixteen years ago)

Oh those crazy popists!

Matt DC, Thursday, 3 June 2010 13:11 (sixteen years ago)

the chorus to "cold war" is really amazing

m@tt (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Thursday, 3 June 2010 16:51 (sixteen years ago)

"Cold War" is really reminiscent of Gnarls Barkley to me ("Going On" specifically)

drop it like it's hot, Elena (HI DERE), Thursday, 3 June 2010 16:52 (sixteen years ago)

xp Yeah really baffled at people who knock the songwriting on this.
