to a degree i get what you mean -- it definitely goes for the feel of millenial pop rap in general, of which g-unit was obviously a big part (also Fed-X, one of the lesser mob figaz, totally does sound like 50 cent at times). but this is sort of like what tim talks about w/r/t funky house ... its going for a template that is seemingly 'done before' but actually turns it into something fresh .... i mean its not like the pop charts sound anything like early 00s right now anyway -- 'i'm going down' sounds like early neptunes, for ex ... its using that entire era as a basis for something new.

but like '20 bricks' 'i be mia' 'drug war' 'i live the life' 'girls say' -- thats a hugely diverse swath of beats/ sounds & hooks

its aite, a lot of classic 80s instrumentals. pretty fun

jacka's slightly nasal, grungy voice brings lloyd banks to mind for me
but yes, more than anything it's the staleness of early 2000's rap that I'm hearing

lloyd banks is way more generic than jacka, lyrically & in rap style
