TBH, for quite some time I thought Meat Beat Manifesto was an American industrial band. That's what the name sounded like to me.

And speaking of electronic duos, don't forget the greatest of them all: Yello! (Not British, though.) You could even say they were predecessors of Underworld's 90s style with their combination of rhythmic not-quite-singing, melancholy synths and absurdist lyrics.

Alright, I've come around to the vocals on "Scribble" -- it's fantastic through and through. Still prefer not to see Hyde's fish-eye lense'd mug while he's driving around and mouthing the worlds.

Verdict: song = C, video = D.

Is that verdict for the radio edit that runs less than half the length of the full track or is that verdict for the version Tong played where he talked over the peak of the track then faded the end?

Ah. Now that you mention it, makes sense of course. I don't mind the video myself, the suspiciously happy man and the flashy colours don't clash with or divert the attention away from the uplifting music.

half good, half forgettable, new song "Scribble" is possibly the greatest thing they've done since Beaucoup Fish

oblivion with bells had "beautiful burnout" which was really great. but then it also had "ring road" which was cringey.

everything i've heard so far off of the new one is brilliant underworld.

how can the slump have started with their best record

Oblivion With Bells is a fantastic record. Even if you don't like Ring Road, there are songs like Best Mamgu Ever and Faxed Invitation that really show off their range. Hopefully everyone interested in the band have the RiverRun EPs and the extra tracks from the OWB sessions, Peach Tree and Loads of Birds.

"ring road" is the only single track they've ever done that i don't love

Yay, can't wait to pick up this album. I fully credit this thread for making me dig out Everything, Everything for the first time in maybe six years. Criminally under-appreciated album that still sounds fantastic.
